Christian has transferred to Mount Zion Prep. He is on this list only because in the CHSAA there are some really big name point guards and he sometimes got overlooked nationally. Make no mistake this is a big time talent. Averaged 16.5 ppg last season for Loughlin. He is able to get to the rim and finish through contact. Elevates on his pull up jumper or his three ball. Really strong explosive downhill guard. Has offers from Fordham,Hofstra, Robert Morris, Maryland , Quinnipiac, Northern Illinois and UCF. All of these offers have been recent.
High basketball IQ. Understands the point guard position responsibilities. Exceptional ball handler in tight spots or open floor. Has led the Nazareth basketball comeback with his highly talented teammates. But when we watch him play he is the guy getting them into good spots to succeed.
I report on Vere a lot but he just doesn’t seem to get the recognition he deserves as one of the best pg in the CHSAA, He is not flashy he just gets the job done. It can be rebounding, getting into the lane and scoring creatively or dishing it to a teammate. Guards with the same intensity. He has played with some exceptional guards at St Francis Prep throughout his earlier years he is now the man there and will shine. Manhattan and Robert Morris have offered but more should.
Players on the Island go unnoticed a lot. Carter has established himself throughout the state. Unfortunately is D1 offer cam from a program St. Francis Brooklyn that has halted its program. He is a dynamic point guard. Fearless and confident. Really good at changing speed and direction. Is a definite scholarship player.
Another guard in the city that goes unnoticed. If schools at any level are looking for confident point guards who understand the position with the history of NYC point guards they should spend a week watching the CHSAA. Jayzir is a pass first make things happen point guard. Who loves to drive the ball and score through the tees in the lane. He is crafty and has a great feel for the game.
