No. 1 2025 Cam Ward sets two officials with more in the works
August in a month where we see a flurry of official visit news surrounding the rising junior and senior classes. Yesterday the No. 1 ranked prospect in the Prep Hoops MD/DC ranking, Cameron Ward Cameron Ward 6'6" | SF Largo | 2025 State #30 Nation MD , announced that he has two official visits set for the coming months to Florida State and Notre Dame. Ward will head to South Bend September 16-17 and Tallahassee October 13-14. I spoke with the 6-foot-7 four-star prospect about where he stands with each program and other visits that are in the works.
Notre Dame: “They’re one of the schools that recruit me the hardest. They provide pro experience from head coach Micah Shrewsberry and just everything they stand on for within their program and how they want to get you to the next level.
Florida State: “Coach Nickelberry is a Prince George’s County guy who went to public school, so he understands the struggle and grind to get to where I am. Then Coach Hamilton is an old school coach that goes for big guards and produces big guards every year such as Scottie Barnes, Malik Beasley and Terance Mann. They want me to take that roll and become the next one out of the group.”
Ward has taken recent unofficial visits to Georgetown and Maryland, both of which should be programs that are heavily in the mix for the Largo product long-term. He spent the spring/summer catching the attention of over a dozen power five programs.
Ward has more visits in the works. No dates have been cemented, but Ward told Prep Hoops that he plans on visiting Kansas State, Michigan State and UCLA this fall as well.
