DeAndre impressed in the two games I watched on Saturday morning. At 6’7 he runs the floor with ease, and has some quickness off the floor that allowed him to block shots in the half-court, and even chase a guy down and swat his lay-up off the glass in transition. Offensively he did the bulk of his work in the paint, scoring 25+ in both games I saw. Soft touch off the glass, relentless going for his own rebounds off misses, and he also showed he can step out and hit the open three. He even took his man off the dribble and finished on the move a few times. Capped off his 8am game with a thunderous two hand slam.
Landon was a big reason why Minnesota Rush came back from a deficit in the second half, and ended up winning big over Starks Elite . The 6’3 wing caught fire from beyond the arc, knocking down shot after shot to put his team in front, and then extend that lead. In the process he was getting his teammates fired up, and gave them a lot of momentum moving forward for the rest of the game. Good shooter with some size on the wing.
Theo made some impressive plays in a win for Wisconsin Academy . The 6’5 lefty is an explosive athlete who can play on the wing or in the paint. Can power his way up for lay-ups out of the block, but also flashed a nice faceup game where he can elevate for a baseline jumper if his man is sagging off. In the second half he was a force in transition weaving in and out of traffic and finishing acrobatically with either hand. Also threw down one of the dunks of the day as he drove down the lane and threw it down with authority.
Brogan is one of the grittiest players in the state of Minnesota, and in the last game of the day he showed no fear going up against Howard Pulley in the 16u quarterfinals. He was going right at their talented guards and blowing by them off the dribble, and didn’t shy away from any contact around the rim. Even against a pair of 6’8+ bigs, he went straight into them and was still able to extend and finish away from his body going full speed at the basket. Madson can absolute fly up the floor with the ball in his hands, and has the ability to quickly decide whether to keep it or dish it off at the last second to a teammate. Defensively he’s relentless pressuring the ball and is going to be the first guy on the floor for a loose ball in his area.

Isiah was looking to dunk just about anything at the rim in a big win over Closed Gyms. The explosive wing was sprinting his lane in transition leading to some dunks in the open floor, and just like he did on Friday night, threw down a dunk right over a defender. He caught the ball on the wing, and just exploded to the rim to throw one down over his man. When he doesn’t have the space to fully elevate, Isiah is able to hang in the air to finish acrobatically. Defends multiple spots with his length and provides an additional shot blocking threat with his ability to quickly get off the floor at 6’5.

Sam showcased one of the best mid-range games I’ve seen all weekend against WOTN. At 6’5 he has good pace on the ball, able to work his way into some space for a pull-up jumper. Gets solid elevation and with his release point it’s tough for opposing wings to contest. He wasn’t just scoring though, as he made some nice passes to set up his teammates. Was able to get to the elbow area and use his height to zip in passes over the top to cutting teammates around the basket.
Tyler has made a lot of improvements since last season. He’s grown a bit to 6’5, and added some explosive athleticism making him a much more dangerous finisher at the rim. Showcased good body control getting out in transition and converting on some difficult looks that were contested well by the defender. Still has the outside jumper and can also drive, stop on two feet, and hit a turnaround jumper that is so tough for most guards to contest. Still able to move his feet defensively against smaller guards, but at 6’5 has the size to guard most spots on the floor at the high school level.
