Saturday was my first time watching DeAndre play in person, and he more than impressed in the two games I watched. Combining for over 50 points, he was a force anytime he caught in/near the paint. Was able to just power his way up to the basket to finish, and was relentless following up misses on the offensive glass. Mobile forward at 6’7 who runs the floor hard and is quick off the floor to dunk or swat shots. Flashed an outside jumper with two 3′, and also had a few times he beat his man off the dribble to get to the rim and finish. Budding 67 forward whose best basketball lies ahead.

DeAndre impressed in the two games I watched on Saturday morning. At 6’7 he runs the floor with ease, and has some quickness off the floor that allowed him to block shots in the half-court, and even chase a guy down and swat his lay-up off the glass in transition. Offensively he did the bulk of his work in the paint, scoring 25+ in both games I saw. Soft touch off the glass, relentless going for his own rebounds off misses, and he also showed he can step out and hit the open three. He even took his man off the dribble and finished on the move a few times. Capped off his 8am game with a thunderous two hand slam.

Holloway got off to a quick start against Minnesota Select McGuire, but had an absolutely dominant second half, scoring 21 of his game-high 27 points in the final 16 minutes to help his West Central Wildcats team come away with a needed win. An intriguing blend of size, length, and athleticism at 6-7, he was dominant as an interior scorer, scoring around the rim with good off-ball movement, by pounding the offensive glass, and by creating for himself off the dribble. He has great body control around the rim and can finish through contact, is a good athlete with excellent length, and he controls the glass on both ends of the floor. He’s also a talented shot blocker who covers a lot of ground on the defensive end.
