In a win on Saturday afternoon, I thought that Bethel was able to do some really positive things for his team. As a floor general, the West Central United standout does many different things well. First, I really like how he runs offense and gets his teammates involved. When Bethel is on the floor, WCU’s offense is never stagnant. Bethel does an excellent job making sure that the ball is always moving, allowing for his teammates to get open looks. The PG is also a very good ball handler. He is slick and quick with his dribble. Bethel uses these advanced handles to slither by opposing defenders en route to layups at the rim.
Victor Busanga — ECI Selects
Busanga was no doubt one of my favorite players to watch this past weekend. The ECI Selects point guard made several key plays for his squad in a win on Saturday morning. Offensively, Busanga is a treat to watch. In the pick and roll, the PG is a threat in more than one way. Coming off a screen, he is a pull-up threat. Busanga has a quick release and isn’t afraid to let it fly. He also has great vision and timing on his passes. Busanga has a knack for placing the ball in the perfect pocket, allowing his teammate to score. The ECI Selects standout also proved to be a hound as an on-ball defender.
Brogan Madson Brogan Madson 6'1" | PG Mankato East | 2025 State MN — Minnesota Select
A list of top point guards from this past weekend not including Madson would be incomplete. The Minnesota Select point guard proved himself as a high-level player. It didn’t matter how well opposing defenders contested Madson’s attempts, the PG still consistently found ways to score. In the championship game, Madson took over late and propelled his squad to a victory.
Jacoby Mehrman Jacoby Mehrman 6'4" | PG Harrisburg | 2024 State SD — Sanford Sports
Mehrman was really the full package for Sanford Sports this past weekend. I don’t think I can name a single thing that the point guard didn’t do above average. He showed some scoring flashes, passed well and limited turnovers, played solid defense, and even rebounded well for his position. I really liked what I saw from the Sanford Sports product. If he continues to refine his game, he could become a great college player.
Carson Haerer — Bears Tail Basketball
I didn’t get the opportunity to see Haerer play a ton in Minnesota, but what I saw from the point guard, I really liked. The Bears Tail Basketball standout is a grinder on both ends of the court. What he lacks in size, he makes up for in hustle. At a critical moment in a game, Haerer isn’t afraid to put his body on the line. Haerer shot the ball well from three this past weekend and played great all around hoops.
