These are the prospects who made the biggest jumps from our last rankings release to this one. Let’s dive on in to six more stock-risers in this rankings update.
You couldn’t have scripted a better finish to the summer than what this Plainfield High School guard turned in. The 5’11” sharpshooter led Kyle Guy Elite Black to a 17u title at the Prep Hoops Circuit Grit Region Finals while averaging about 25 points per game in the tournament. He can flat out fill it up from beyond the arc. Ellis saw his ranking improve from #81 all the way to #45 in the Class of 2024. Look for him to have a big senior season for the Quakers as small college programs from around the Midwest follow closely.
Highlights
This athletic forward had a breakout spring and summer with Focus Premier to earn himself his first handful of college offers. Hayworth is one of the most sought small college recruits in the state with a lot of DII/DIII/NAIA interest including offers from the likes of Grace, Wabash, and Wheaton. He is a strong left-handed wing/forward that can attack the basket, play above the rim, and rebound very well. His shooting ability has started to improve as well which makes him an even better prospect. Hayworth’s ranking jumped from #58 to #29 in this most recent update.
Highlights
You don’t see many guys jump nearly 70 spots in the rankings. Admittedly, that probably means we had him a little too low the last time around, but this 6’3″ wing from Delta High School has had an excellent summer to prove he belongs much higher. Hood is a physical wing with good size. He attacks the rim aggressively off of the dribble, is very good in transition, and can make open three-point shots as well. His play with Indiana Ice on the 3SGB Circuit helped move him all the way up to #27 in the state.
After earning Indiana Junior All-Star honors last season at a Portage, this 6’6″ parlayed his success into a strong spring and summer with 94 Feet Elite. Johnson has a skilled inside-outside game with the ability to stretch the floor out to 18 feet or so while possessing the size and footwork to finish around the basket consistently. He is good on the roll or when rim-running in transition. The forward saw his ranking jump over 50 spots from #104 to #52 in the recently updated Class of 2024 prospect rankings.
Spellman missed the spring and summer with a shoulder injury so his stock-rising status goes back to the junior season that he had with Center Grove. The 6’6″ forward/center is highly skilled as a guy who can score it with his back to the basket on the block or step out to the perimeter. He is a very good passer for his size, he can initiate some offense from the top of the key, and his size allows him to finish at a high level with good footwork around the basket. Spellman could rise even more once he returns to the floor for his senior season. He jumped 14 spots from #64 to #50 in the state.
