Team 540 Plays Well:
Team 540 based out of the Roanoke, VA played well with Prep Hoops in attendance today. This squad was led by a trio of players in Demarcus Brown Demarcus Brown 6'2" | SG Roanoke Catholic | 2027 State VA , Makhi Martin Makhi Martin 6'6" | PF Fleming | 2027 State VA and Bryce Giles Bryce Giles 6'2" | PF Nelson County | 2027 State VA .
Brown who attends Roanoke Catholic averaged 7.8 ppg last year as an 8th grader for the Celtics. Demarcus also excels on the gridiron as a wide receiver on the football team. Brown was smooth for his age in the backcourt with the rock in his hands.
Martin really worked the glass well on both sides and played active on both ends of the court. Makhi had nimble footwork and already good size for his age. He will attend Fleming HS in Roanoke this fall he told Prep Hoops.
Giles was a stocky and sturdy undersized post player for Team 540. Bryce plays physical and really thrives through contact. He battled with his back to the basket and worked for position all day long. Nelson will attend Nelson County HS in Lovingston this fall.
Palmetto State Represented Well:
Rickey Littlejohn III Rickey Littlejohn III 5'9" | PG Gaffney | 2027 State SC
Littlejohn III is extremely quick to the cup and touching the paint. Rickey finishes with both hands very effectively at the rim. He really likes to push the tempo and race by defenders in the open court. Rickey who attends Gaffney HS is certainly a Top 5 player in the 2027 Palmetto State – Hint, Hint – Those rankings won’t be released for the first-time next March after the freshman season is over.
RJ is an animal on the glass when it comes to rebounding the ball. He was suiting up this weekend with the Hoopzters in the Upstate. Stack will attend Easley HS this coming fall. RJ understands where his bread is buttered down low on the block, and he really looks to go out work every time. He tends to carve out space while working with his back to basket. Stack really sees the ball well and plays to it every time.
Desmond Harrington Desmond Harrington 6'7" | PF Cardinal Newman | 2027 State SC
Harrington didn’t put up huge numbers here today for the Carolina Rebels at all. Desmond does his work around the paint area. Harrington has no problems working around the block area and pushing defenders from side to side.
He has made strong progress and really started to get his body in shape this past season at Cardinal Newman. Look for him and Elton Smith Jr Elton Smith Jr 6'9" | PF Cardinal Newman | 2026 State SC to make some noise in the years to come for the Cardinals in the SCISA Class 4A ranks.
Tucker Scholl Tucker Scholl 6'0" | SG Greenville | 2027 State SC
Scholl keeps on having a good spring and summer with his game. Tucker once again today was at it today with his ability to make shots on the perimeter. Scholl just an incoming 9th grader should see some good minutes for the Greenville Hs Red Raiders this coming season and Head Coach Mike Anderson.
Davis was instant defense when he entered the game for the Carolina Rebels. RJ is a rim-protector with his ability to swat and challenge shots on the defensive end of the floor. He brings good length and leaping ability to the floor for the Carolina Rebels. RJ will be an instrumental part of the future plans for Head Coach Mitchell Moss and the Union County Yellow Jackets.
Dreyton Jackson Dreyton Jackson 5'6" | PG Easley | 2027 State SC
Jackson a small point guard will be at Easley HS this coming season for the Green Wave. Dreyton was able to drop some floaters today for his squad in an opening round win. Jackson and Stack could be a nice 1-2 combo from the freshman class for the Green Wave this coming season in the Upstate.
