High IQ postman who sees plays developing ahead of time excelling off anticipation and heady decision making. High level footwork and touch under the basket, scoring off either foot or hand through traffic with push shots and reverses. Smith shows a constant motor that allows him to clean up misses for second chance points, utilize his mobility in the open court, and anchor the defense with instinctive backline play. Elton Smith also shows a great ability to communicate, switch, or hedge in pick actions, cutting off passing and driving angles with his length, always making his massive wingspan present and effective.

A rare 6-foot-9 force of nature, blending size, strength, and versatile fluidity that immediately stands out. He moves with the mobility and agility of a guard while carrying the frame of a forward, making him a nightmare mismatch across positions. With a great feel for the game, he processes plays quickly and thrives as a connector, showing the ability to initiate offense and keep the ball moving. As a point forward, he’s a willing and skilled passer, delivering the ball on time and on target out of the high post, in transition, or off the bounce. His combination of ball skills, vision, and unselfish instincts allows him to orchestrate possessions and create opportunities for teammates while still being a capable scorer himself. The unique mix of size, fluidity, and playmaking IQ makes him the type of player you can build lineups around, as he elevates others while also commanding defensive attention.

. This was my first look at Elton in a Raider jersey, and he was extremely impressive. Elton’s gifted physicals will jump out you immediately as he was the tallest, strongest, and most athletic player on the court. Smith looked to use that to work in the paint, but he is not just a dominant post-scorer but also a gifted passer. Elton showed some skill working in the low post, the high post, and knocking down the occasional mid-range jumper. He racked up 17 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 blocks in a win over Byrnes.

Elton is the top player in the 2026 SCISA Class throughout the Palmetto State. Elton brings a long wingspan and some quick feet to the table. He moves very well all over the floor looking to stalk the baseline and trying to dunk everything in sight.
Elton averaged 7.8 ppg, 9.1 rebounds and 3.8 assists last season.
Elton is a quick leaper who can challenge and alter shots on the defensive end of the floor. He can finish around rim with a soft touch. Elton looks like he’s gliding over the floor at times with long frame. He has great passing skills and vision for his size.
Can the Cardinals repeat in SCISA Class 4A this season? The Cardinals finished (21-15) a season ago.
