We dive into the positional rankings. We move over to the combo guards for the rising sophomore class.
Here are the top-10 CG’s in the 2026 class:
Kaden House Kaden House 6'3" | CG Desert Mountain | 2026 State AZ Desert Mountain
The top combo guard seemed to toy with the AIA competition freshman season. I can argue that he was the best player in the state outside of maybe Cody and Koa of Perry. He scores it from all three levels but his defensive presence and court awareness are elite for the class.
Daylen Sharper Daylen Sharper 6'4" | CG Brophy Prep | 2026 State AZ Brophy Prep
A bigger combo guard plays a lot on the ball and has steadily improved his passing in the last year or so. He makes reads off a live dribble and find cutters or spot up shooters. He can get to the basket with long strides or hit the catch three.
Khalil Lias Khalil Lias 6'3" | SG Eduprize | 2026 State AZ Phhoenix Prep
A two-way guard is behind House as the best on-ball defender. He suffocates his opposing ball handlers with some travel calls and makes them pick up their dribble often. He flies above the rim on the break and can occasionally hit the catch three.
Brandon Stapleton Brandon Stapleton 6'4" | CG Chandler | 2026 State AZ Chandler
A strong lefty guard can attack off the bounce and get to the rim, hit perimeter jumpers from mid to the three, rebound in and out of his area and defends multiple positions. He makes some plays for his teammates and scores.
Jayden Hughes Jayden Hughes 6'5" | CG Brophy Prep | 2026 State AZ Brophy Prep
A quickly growing guard plays on or off the ball easily. He has good open court speed and uses his length on the defensive end to deflect many balls thrown in his area. He moves quickly laterally and will get on the glass. He can shoot perimeter jumpers and is good in transition.
Tillman Huish Tillman Huish 6'1" | CG Gilbert | 2026 State AZ Gilbert
A quick guard is slowly transitioning to becoming a point guard. He can play on or off the ball and pass about as well as anyone on this list. He drives and kicks to teammates plus can score from mid to the three.
Marquice Cole Jr Marquice Cole Jr 5'11" | CG Hamilton | 2026 State AZ Hamilton
An attacking combo guard is a fun watch. He plays with a huge motor to compete and regardless of who is in front of him, he will go downhill. He has advanced body control to contort his body and consistently makes tough shots in traffic. He can also be intense on the ball defensively.
George Mihilli George Mihilli 6'1" | CG ALA-Queen Creek | 2026 State AZ ALA-Queen Creek
A balanced combo guard is a tough lefty. He does love to attack first and get into the teeth of the defense and scores with floaters, euros, runners and layups. He can hit the three and is good on the ball defensively. He has a big IQ to make plays.
Grady Crandall Grady Crandall 6'2" | CG Highland | 2026 State AZ Highland (Pictured)
One of the strongest combo guards in the class. He has that football frame and upper body strength and speed that some seniors are trying to get. He handles it like a lead guard and works well touching the paint to score thru contact or make a play. He will defend multiple positions and will also hit the three.
Brayden Newton Brayden Newton 5'11" | CG Boulder Creek | 2026 State AZ Boulder Creek
A very fast combo guard seems to have a step on any defender. Once he makes his burst and uses his quicker first step, he can get to the basket and is a stud in transition. He is quick on the ball and makes good reads to teammates. He will hit perimeter jumpers but loves scoring towards the rim.
