Chamberlain had a very successful weekend as he was able to show a little bit of that perimeter defense he is capable of. Chamberlain was racking up the stats as he was averaging around 3 blocks a game and double digits on rebounds as he was hauling them in, in traffic. His ability to simply get up is high level and he is starting to be more active going after every rebound. His ability to play in the perimeter on offense is getting better. You can see his upside.
The growth of this young prospect is really impressive. He has a longer reach than you might think because he can defend the rim with a simple wall-up. He rebounds and gets on his horse up the floor and can really set a mean screen. When he embraces that physical side of his game he is better and has an edge. Nice moves with his back to the basket and he is starting to try and dunk everything near the rim. Owen had a solid showing in Las Vegas.
Highlights
Coleman continues to prove that he deserves that ultimate green light because he lines that ball up so well and he can hit in traffic. It is going to be interesting how much of a green light he will have at the high school level. Coleman hit some big shots and he is really good at spreading the floor in transition. On broken plays he relocated and was able to get some quality looks up.
I think last time we mention Jax in a post we mentioned that he was a good defender well, he was at it again as he has gotten the assignment to guard the other teams best defender almost every single game. This has him guarding up 6’5 or 6’6 at times and he makes life difficult for these elite players. He continues to develop his lead ball handler skills as well as his off the ball shooting. In time he projects really high. His best ball is yet to come.
Tyler played well as he was active in the zone they played as he made passing difficult and was able to move and bump to get to his spots. Tyler showed the knack to go out and seek rebounds and on offense he is a grab and go guard as he pushes the pace with the ball in his hands, When he doesn’t have the ball in his hands he gets out wide to space the floor. With a quick first step he can get some good paint touches and kick out or power to the rim.
Ike was a big time player off the bench this weekend as he not only provided strength and height he was a big shot maker at times when teams would key off of. When Ike gets healthy again and can start slashing at a high level to the rim he is going to be more of a threat. He has decided to head back to football this fall so keep an eye on him in the backfield over at Lone Peak as the QB.
