2024 SF Cael Trudo Cael Trudo 6'5" | SF Van Meter | 2024 State IA (Van Meter)
Van Meter was only in attendance on Friday morning, so I only got to see Trudo play once, but he was stellar in the game that I saw against Knoxville, going off for 30 points and 10 rebounds. He’s a 6-3/6-4 wing who can score from all three levels and play with or without the ball in his hands. He’s a good shooter off the catch with a quick release and plenty of range. He showed against Knoxville that he can score in bunches, putting up 10 points in the first 2:15 of the third quarter and doing so in a variety of ways. He uses his length effectively on the defensive end, getting into passing lanes and contesting shots well.
2024 SG Jackson Green Jackson Green 6'3" | SG Dallas Center-Grimes | 2024 State IA (Dallas Center-Grimes)
DCG had three players who could’ve landed on this list ( Jonathan Howard Jonathan Howard 6'1" | SG Dallas Center-Grimes | 2024 State IA , Calix Cahill Calix Cahill 6'5" | PF Dallas Center-Grimes | 2024 State IA ), but Green earns the nod with his dynamic play on both ends of the floor. A 6-1 guard who showed that he can play with and without the ball, he shoots it incredibly well from deep and uses that range to open up the rest of his arsenal. He gets fantastic rotation on his jumper, is a tough shot maker, and competes hard on the glass on both ends of the floor. He averaged 19.5 points in the two games we saw the Mustangs play.
2025 PG Bode Goodman (Southeast Polk)
Goodman was dominant in the Rams win over Madrid, scoring 32 points to go with 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Like Trudo, we saw him play just once, but he was so good in that game that he earned a spot on this first team. He was in complete control throughout the game on both ends of the floor, routinely getting to the rim both in transition and in the halfcourt. He has great footwork and body control around the bucket, has a pure jumper, and he does a great job changing speeds. Once he gets his defender on his hip, it’s game over.
2026 SG Rio Aguirre Rio Aguirre 6'1" | PG Ankeny | 2026 State IA (Ankeny)
The sophomore-to-be was great for the Hawks in the two games that we saw them play, averaging 19 points and showing the ability to score from all three levels. He has good wing size at 6-2/6-3 and is a fantastic shooter off the catch already, showing a quick, pure release and extended range. He uses his shooting to open up the rest of his offensive game, putting the ball on the floor and creating looks for himself and his teammates, and he moves really well without the ball in his hands.
2024 SF Jonovan Wilkinson Jonovan Wilkinson 6'2" | SF Roland-Story | 2024 State IA (Roland-Story)
A tough wing who has always had a dynamic mid-range game, Wilkinson showed off improved range in the two games that we were able to watch, knocking down eight 3-pointers in those two games while averaging 24 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists. He has a pure stroke and was looking to score in bunches. He is outstanding at getting to his spots in the mid-range, using his physical frame, handles, and footwork to find his area in the 15-foot range, but if the expanded range is for real, watch out.
