Marquis Clark Marquis Clark 6'2" | PG Whitney Young | 2026 State IL (Whitney Young) 2026
As I walked into the gym Clark was hitting pull up jumpers some from mid range and the others were from deep. Marquis looked the part of a scoring lead guard who also dropped dimes.
Howard Williams Howard Williams 6'5" | SF Whitney Young | 2027 IL (Whitney Young) 2027
Very impressive first impression from the incoming freshman. Howard connected on two corner threes and rebounded very well in his first run of competitive high school action.
Reid Olson Reid Olson 6'0" | PG Niles North | 2025 State IL (Niles North) 2025
Olson is a knock down shot maker who is who he is. But was I saw Friday was a better decision maker when playing the lead guard spot. Reid moved the ball well on offense and made deep threes when North need them the most.
Yaris Irby Yaris Irby 5'10" | PG Niles North | 2025 State IL (Niles North) 2025
Irby is a physical scoring guard that played well with teammate (Olson). Yaris looked strong coming off ball screens and was very effective in drive and kick situations. Irby also hit some big threes when his team was down big.
Antonio Munoz Antonio Munoz 6'6" | SF Whitney Young | 2025 State #194 Nation IL (Whitney Young) 2025
Munoz was good at getting downhill through traffic and scoring over defenders. He wowed the crowds with his transition steals that he turned into highlight dunks. Antonio has that extra burst when attacking the rim and most players can’t keep up with him.
Davis Bynum Davis Bynum 6'7" | PF East St. Louis | 2024 State IL (East St Louis) 2024
First look at Bynum. Long and springy wing who caught my attention with his shot making capabilities. He hit 4 threes in the game I watched. He has a high release point that seems nearly impossible to disrupt once his feet is set. Davis also crashed the offensive boards well scoring several points off missed jumpshots attempts. Bynum caught many coaches attention on Friday.
Jehvion Starwood Jehvion Starwood 6'3" | SG Oswego East | 2024 State #269 Nation IL (Oswego East) 2024
Starwood already had a reputation for being athletic especially when he gets open court steals on fast breaks. But Friday proved that he’s been in the gym working on his shot and it showed. He hit several threes off the bounce with defenders in his face. Once the defense changed how they covered him then he drove in the lane where he made some outstanding plays at the rim.
Chris Riddle Chris Riddle 6'5" | SF Kenwood | 2024 State #204 Nation IL (Kenwood) 2024
Riddle had some great moments of attacking downhill when defenders closed out to hard on him. He has a strong upper body and core strength to score through contact and keep his focus on the basket. Chris has a nice looking shot but didn’t settle around the perimeter much. He’s becoming the player coaches think he will become.
Terrence Smith Terrence Smith 6'5" | SF West Aurora | 2025 State #299 Nation IL (West Aurora) 2025
In a what seemed like a dunk contest in the back gym, Terrance seemed to be the winner. He had some strong windmills and double clutch dunks in the blowout victory over St. Rita.
Stefan Cicic Stefan Cicic 7'0" | C Riverside Brookfield | 2024 State IL (Riverside Brookfield) 2024
Nobody on the court could stop Cicic in the post on Friday. The 6’10 big man had his way with strong post play, using solid positioning and footwork to make scoring look effortless. Stefan uses the right jump hook and spin moves to shed defenders. He put on a clinic against Hyde Park.
RJ McKinney (Simeon) 2024
The lefty guard filled it up Friday evening. Hitting several tough layups in the lane at first. Once he couldn’t drive he started to hit shots from the three. RJ is known as a defender first but now he’s expanded his game to combo guard as he is a good facilitator and shoots the ball well from various spots.
Dekwon Brown Dekwon Brown 6'4" | PG Simeon | 2024 #273 Nation IL (Simeon) 2024
This was Brown first action with the Wolverines and it was a success. Dekwon is a savvy guard that knows he can score whenever but decided to show he is becoming a floor general. Brown moved the ball well to teammates early and then became a scoring threat later in the game.
Adoni Vasilakis (Marist) 2026
I’ve seen Adoni several times in the spring but this was the first with his actual high school. He is a strong and savvy PG that takes what the defense gives him and makes plays. Vasilakis gets to the rim with shifty handles and tight spin moves. His shot looked good from three and midrange. Adoni put himself on the map Friday night.
