We were in attendance for each game Saturday and came away with a handful of players who should see their stock rise over the next few weeks.
Amare Campbell Amare Campbell 6'0" | PG Etiwanda | 2024 State CA-S , 2024, Etiwanda
It’s a rare occurrence to see Etiwanda playing in a summer event but it looks like the Eagles will be competing in June more often under new head coach Daniel Ryan. One of Etiwanda’s top returners, senior point guard Amare Campbell Amare Campbell 6'0" | PG Etiwanda | 2024 State CA-S , played well Saturday in its two games. The 6-foot lefty is a dynamic athlete with great speed when the ball is in his hands. Campbell used his burst off the dribble to blow-by defenders and get to the rim where he finished well through contact. Campbell is poised to have a big senior season.
Angelino Mark Angelino Mark 6'2" | PG SO Notre Dame | 2025 State #358 Nation CA-S , 2024, Sherman Oaks Notre Dame
As opportunity knocks it looks like Mark is going to be the one to answer at Notre Dame. The 6-foot-2 junior is one of the best pure athletes in the state and has plenty of basketball skill to go along with it. Mark, who was an understudy to two high-major college players in Dusty Stromer and Caleb Foster last season, showed that he learned a lot from that duo. Mark has an explosive first step and a great second gear that allows him to get by his primary defender and into the paint. His combination of vertical leaping ability, his strong frame and good length makes him a guy who can finish over rim protectors. Mark also possesses the three-point shooting touch to keep the defense honest and open up driving lanes.
Christian Collins, 2026, St. Bernard
Collins has great basketball bloodlines. He’s the son of former Inglewood standout DeAngelo Collins who was a 2002 McDonald’s All-American Game selection and played for a decade-plus overseas. Christian, who at 6-feet-7 and still growing, has a lot of tools that don’t always come natural to young big men, mainly his instincts as a shot blocker, rim protector and rebounder. Collins has great timing and feel on the defensive end which allows him to alter shots around the basket. Offensively, while still raw from a skill-set standpoint, Collins is a fluid and mobile athlete with good hands and soft touch.
Denis Woods Denis Woods 6'3" | PG Bishop Montgomery | 2025 State CA-S , 2025, Bishop Montgomery
From what we saw from the Knights on Saturday, it looks like Woods will need to be the main creator for a team that graduated many of its top players from last season. The 6-foot junior guard was certainly up to the challenge as he was the primary ball-handler, decision-maker and even scorer on the young Knights squad. Woods has great feel as a ball handler and creator and a pop of athleticism around the basket which makes him a good finisher.
Devin Ringer Devin Ringer 6'2" | SG Redondo Union | 2024 State CA-S , 2024, Redondo Union
Ringer had a solid season at Redondo last year and he’s carrying that momentum into what should be a big senior year for him. The 6-foot-3 guard entered the high school ranks as a knockdown shooter who was best off the ball as a catch and shoot guy but has evolved his game into being a combo guard who can initiate offense and make good decisions. While Ringer has taken on more ball handling and distribution duties, he can still shoot the lights out when needed.
