This past weekend was the second weekend of live period action, and many college coaches, fans and I descended upon Forsyth Country Day for the NCISAA Showcase, Week 2. Check out a few of the top wings that I saw this weekend, with some highly touted stockrisers and some new names to get to know for everyone.
I walked in the gym Saturday morning and immediately was impressed with what Thompson was doing for his Providence Day squad. He’s a long lanky athlete that’s got good top speed and runs the floor well, making him a threat in transition. He rebounds the ball very well defensively too, which means he can start and finish a break by himself. In the halfcourt, he attacks the rim well and showed off a developing jumper, albeit something that needs a bit more work to become consistent. He’s got a lot of intriguing tools that should make him a target for many D1s across the country, and could be an elite two way wing with his athleticism and ability he’s begun to show over the past six months.

Clay is a really fun name to watch in the class of 2026, an athletic wing that really brings his lunch pail on the defensive end. He’s a good rim protector and defender on wings and forwards, cutting guys off when they try to get to their spots and coming off the help side to pin shots against the backboard. He had one transition block that turned into a volleyball spike that left me quite impressed. Offensively his game is still in the works, consisting of a lot of dunks and attacks to the rim. It’s improving, with a jumper that looks better than when I saw him in March, but still a ways to go. He should have plenty of eyes on him, and be a really exciting prospect to watch as his offensive game comes along.
Claggett is maybe more of a 1/2 than a wing, but he’s so physically strong and lengthy in my mind that he can play both the 2 and the 3. He’s an amazing shooter, finding lots of open looks in the system with Isaiah Henry Isaiah Henry 6’5″ | CG Cannon School | 2025 State #162 Nation NC driving and kicking well. His strength is also put to good use as a driver, making him really powerful as a complete scorer. You can ask him to do almost anything and he’ll do it well, making him a matchup problem for defenses. In their matchup against Greenfield he also ran really well in transition, both getting baskets and opening lanes for others to score or exploit advantages. He’s a complete offensive package that should pick up more interest and offers sooner rather than later.
There was a debate going around on Twitter Monday about who the best shooter out of NC was, and this kid right here should be firmly in the conversation. One of the prettiest shots I’ve seen over the past year in high school, and he has an ability to knock down shots from almost anywhere. Deep range and ability to shoot over contesting defenders makes him a spot up nightmare within an offense. He’s developing a handle as well, making him even more versatile and useful within an offense. Defensively he showed effort and a nose for the ball while rebounding, keeping him useful, if not a great defender for most squads. He should be all over schools radars if they’re looking for an elite, elite shooter to add to their 2024 class.

King is a really interesting name for college coaches with his guard/forward skills and being 6’6. He’s a do it all kind of guy, filling in on defense and offense when necessary. He’s an impressive leaper and shot blocker on defense, making him a good matchup for opposing wings or bigs. He can rebound well and also guard 2-5 for periods of time. Offensively his game is well rounded, shooting a lot of jumpers when I saw him play. He gets to work in the mid-range and extends out to the three point line, but also is strong in the paint with his above the rim ability. He has showcased his dunking and alley-oop abilities many a time when I’ve watched him play, and this weekend was similar. His stock is rising quickly as we head back into AAU live period in July.
