Morning Session

Grimsley and Apex Friendship is one matchup I'll need to have my eye on in the morning session. [player_tooltip player_id='1889843' first='Zacch' last='Wiggins'] is obviously the star name to know amongst the two teams, but there are a lot of young names that are continuing to catch my eye. [player_tooltip player_id='2055663' first='Nick' last='Keith'] is a dynamite point guard in the backcourt, and Kaden Catoe has been another name who's having a big spring so far. DJ Howerton is a strong, athletic wing/forward that will likely make a large impact over the years to come. For Apex Friendship, it's really the Kendall Lanier show, but they also have great complementary pieces that I've seen that impress me. David Major is a great scrappy point guard, [player_tooltip player_id='1238111' first='AJ' last='Gladieux'] is really solid in the action I've seen him in, and Jadon Green was one of the most productive freshmen in the high school season in the area. This will be fun to watch and check out who's made strides.

Afternoon Session

Everyone's going to be interested in [player_tooltip player_id='1115509' first='Drake' last='Powell'] vs. [player_tooltip player_id='1864068' first='Paul' last='McNeil'] in Northwood vs. Richmond County in the afternoon, but my eyes are locked in on Cardinal Gibbons vs. Lake Norman. This battle has two of our top 2025s in [player_tooltip player_id='1165174' first='Cash' last='McSweeney'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1409597' first='Trent' last='Steinour']. For Cardinal Gibbons, they also boast a talented 2026 in Aidan Smalls, a real competitive dog and leader. Ronny Hunter and [player_tooltip player_id='1411225' first='Brycen' last='Dubose'] are a couple of other names in the backcourt that should be worth monitoring as well during these games. For Lake Norman, they have a lot of size and depth in the wing spots through shooters [player_tooltip player_id='1226602' first='Taurean' last='McKinnon'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1226603' first='Tre' last='McKinnon'], Kaleb Oloyede, and [player_tooltip player_id='2339858' first='Grant' last='Dryden']. All are impressive in the classroom and on the court, and their size and skill should be worth checking out this year.

Evening Session

The evening matchup I want to check out is Ben L Smith vs. Olympic. Two groups who can both make noise in their respective regions again next year, and for the Golden Eagles it all runs through [player_tooltip player_id='1947989' first='Gage' last='Lattimore'] now. He's a bit undersized but a knockdown shooter and competitor. Carlos Neely is a good scorer, and Micah Cowen is another solid guard in the backcourt. This is a team that hopefully adds some size and depth, but that's exactly what team camps are opportunities for us to find out. Olympic will bring back [player_tooltip player_id='1730932' first='Jaydon' last='Terrell'], the do it all point guard, and he should still get a lot of help from [player_tooltip player_id='1730959' first='Kameron' last='Taylor']. A name to watch for already is 2027 [player_tooltip player_id='2523072' first='Landon' last='Glaze'], a 6'5 wing that should be able to immediately impact the game with his size and physicality. Them, along with the supporting pieces Olympic brings back, should allow for them to contend again in a crowded landscape. This one should be a fun one to watch this weekend.
