McSweeney probably put together the best performance of the day for Cardinal Gibbons at the inaugural Phenom Hoops 919 Showcase. He put together a double-double with 36 points and 17 rebounds in pacing the Crusaders to a 70-54 victory. He did well in showcasing in his ability to operate inside and out as he scored in a variety of ways. McSweeney is quite the underrecruited forward prospect in the state as he continues to showcase his talents with SW15H Elite on the UA Rise stage. He cleans up the glass, he protects the paint and can create his own offense when the ball comes his way as an inside-out presence. He’s sure to emerge as quite the hidden gem on the LM/MM scene soon enough as more programs get eyes on him over at Cardinal Gibbons High and during the July Live Period. Given his size and skill set, he’s hard to overlook as a DI prospect in the 2025 class.

McSweeney popped out of his short funk last week, going for 17 points and 8 boards against Enloe, then a 19 point 10 rebound double double against Leesville Road. He’s a really intriguing wing that has played really well as a slasher and playmaker, and shown flashes of becoming a capable three point shooter. He’s a name for D1 and D2 programs to pick up this summer with Scott Wood Elite as they hit the UA Rise circuit.

Last Season Stats – 12.9 PPG, 8.9 RPG, .8 BPG
McSweeney was a huge stockriser last season, and his continued impressive play makes him a target to have a big junior year and be recruited by more Division 1 schools. His offensive game is improving continuously, with his perimeter jump shot and face up game improving by the day. Athletic enough to make an impact on defense as well with good feet and vertical pop. He should be an important piece of an improved Gibbons team along with his teammate Smalls.
