Montague had a great junior season at Cardinal Gibbons where he helped lead The Crusaders on a deep playoff run and he’s been building off of that momentum with No Guts No Glory UA Rise 17u. Montague is a really high level floor general and his ability to shoot it in the mid-range plus from beyond the arc allows him to operate freely with the ball in his hands. Montague has an advanced feel for the game with deep range and great footwork when pulling up for his jumper. He’s able to balance finding his own offense while being able to find offense for others with consistency and seamlessly. I fully expect Montague to garner real next level attention as he’s been a really productive player in every single setting.

Montague has been a key key piece on one of the 919s best teams at Cardinal Gibbons this season. With Gibbons at 17-2 with a 5-1 conference record, they’re enjoying one of their best seasons in recent memory. Montague is averaging 12.6 Points, 3.3 Rebounds, 4.7 Assists, and 1.6 Steals per game all on 51/34/82 shooting splits. Montague helps keep Gibbons in control all night long as they run their offense at a really high level. He’s capable of scoring from all three levels and going to get a basket for himself when the play breaks down. Montague is scrappy on the defensive end and does a great job using his timing to swing possessions at that end of the floor with steals and taking charges. Walker’s ability to run a team and score efficiently is incredibly valuable for a Cardinal Gibbons team with state title hopes!

Montague was an impressive prospect who showed off his shooting stroke in the Team 6 backcourt. He showed off his range and a sneaky ability to get to the paint and finish in traffic. He’s a shifty ballhandler with a bright future ahead of him with a high IQ for making things happen on the floor in a variety of ways. He’ll be a name out of Cardinal Gibbons High to keep track of in NC’s 2027 class.
