The Spartans look to field another strong team after winning a district championship in Class 6 last season. Class of 2024 wing [player_tooltip player_id='1430519' first='Tate' last='McCubbin'] was impressive with his perimeter shooting and athleticism. The 6'7" McCubbin picked up an offer from South Dakota State after the event. The guard play was strong with quick 5'9" 2025 [player_tooltip player_id='1424414' first='Vernell' last='Holt Jr.'] and athletic 6'2" 2025 Ke'Yion Cross. Du'Shun Jackson is another 2025 guard who can slash. A new face to watch on the scene is 5'11" point guard [player_tooltip player_id='2334930' first='Brandon' last='Rooks'], who can handle the ball and hit the 3-point shot.

CAPE GIRARDEAU CENTRAL: The Tigers will field one of the top units in the SEMO area once again. I was impressed with 6'3" 2024 guard [player_tooltip player_id='1571715' first='Jay' last='Reynolds'], who was knocking down shots from 3-point range with consistency. 2025 forward Tyseandre Edwards is a 6'6" forward with excellent length and athleticism. He was very active at both ends of the court. A pair of guards who looked impressive were 6'2" 2024 [player_tooltip player_id='2092244' first='Tyson' last='Williams'] and 5'10" 2025 Matayo Williams. Central was without dynamic 6'3" 2026 guard [player_tooltip player_id='1789998' first='Marquel' last='Murray'] during the weekend.

CARDINAL RITTER: The Class 5 state champions returned most of their nucleus for the upcoming season and they are deep and they play hard. Most impressive was 6'5" 2024 forward [player_tooltip player_id='1273888' first='Nashawn' last='Davis'], who has the versatile skill set that makes him a matchup problem. Class of 2024 point guard [player_tooltip player_id='1427981' first='Clayton' last='Jackson'] is a 6'2" floor leader who can distribute the ball and hit big shots while 6'0" 2024 [player_tooltip player_id='1914113' first='Derrick' last='Rivers'] shot it well from 3-point range. An excellent prospect in the 2024 class is 6'5" wing Quentin Parker, who can shoot it from distance and put it on the floor. He is also an explosive athlete. Mekhi Berringer is a rugged 6'5" 2024 forward who brings toughness and versatility off the bench. He was playing with his usual big motor at both ends of the court.

The Red Devils are a young and talented team that will be one of the top teams to watch in Class 6 next season. They look to be two-deep at every position, which is very impressive. They have two excellent point guards in 6'1" 2026 [player_tooltip player_id='1446576' first='Jonny' last='Jordan'] and 5'10" 2025 [player_tooltip player_id='1557432' first='Jacob' last='Robinson']. Jordan is a smooth ball handler who can pass it and create offense from a number of spots. Robinson is a thick-bodied guard who can hit open perimeter shots and provide strong on-ball defensive pressure. 2025 Colin Keller is a 6'1" guard who can shoot it from downtown. He's had a strong summer season. The other wing guard is 6'2" 2025 [player_tooltip player_id='1424396' first='Collin' last='Perry'], who sat out the weekend with an injury. Up front, 6'10" 2025 [player_tooltip player_id='1419870' first='Ben' last='Winker'] is a solid young big who was finishing well in the paint. He is joined inside by 6'3" 2024 forward My'Kel Rachel, who is a tenacious rebounder who played with a tremendous motor. He also has plenty of bounce. Another impressive young player is 6'6" 2026 Jamison White, who hit five 3-pointers in a victory over Lee's Summit West. His brother, 6'7" 2026 forward [player_tooltip player_id='1873552' first='Jahidi' last='White Jr']., also sat out the weekend with an injury. He is a robust 240-pound power forward.

The Spartans have a good collection of young perimeter talent with diverse skill sets. [player_tooltip player_id='1557460' first='Owen' last='Duff'] is a 6'0" 2025 point guard who was shooting it well from 3-point range. He hit a buzzer beater in one of the Spartans' victories in the event. [player_tooltip player_id='1715259' first='Riley' last='Massey'] is a 6'3" 2025 guard who has good athleticism and a nice perimeter shot from 3-point range. He was also moving well without the basketball. [player_tooltip player_id='1850530' first='Ian' last='Thomas'] is a strong lefty 6'3" 2026 point guard who has a very good feel for the game. He was passing the ball well and he can touch the paint on dribble penetration. Also impressive was 6'4" 2026 wing [player_tooltip player_id='1873550' first='Braden' last='Butler'] who has plenty of bounce and a nice pull up jumper.

FATHER TOLTON

The Trailblazers featured one of the top young guards at the event in 2025 point guard [player_tooltip player_id='1422771' first='Exavier' last='Wilson'], who averaged more than 20 points a game. He displayed his quick first step and explosive athleticism. If he wasn't getting into the lane for layups, he was stopping and popping from the mid-range area as he elevated over defenders for buckets. I was also impressed with 6'6" 2025 [player_tooltip player_id='1425357' first='Blake' last='Pingeton'], who shot the ball well from 3-point range and rebounded the ball very well. MJ Adair is a 6'0" 2024 point guard who was very effective at getting downhill on dribble penetration while 6'4" 2025 Donovan Tolson, who used his 240 pounds effectively to play physical in the paint area. Father Tolton was without 6'5" 2024 forward [player_tooltip player_id='1160819' first='Javar' last='Galbreath'] for the weekend.

The Panthers featured one of the biggest players at the event in 6'11" 2025 center [player_tooltip player_id='1422744' first='Tanner' last='Baird'], who has good size to go along with his height. He used his big body well to seal defenders and score around the basket with a nice shooting touch. He had quite a bit of company inside, but he was able to pass it well out of the double and triple teams. Drue Cohen is a 6'4" 2024 wing player was very effective when he was slashing to the basket and getting offensive rebounds on the weakside.
