Live Period Watch: Guards

The 6'4 lefty prospect out of Wahoo is a fluid scorer who can put the ball in the basket at will. He has a pretty outside jump shot with a quick release. However, Glock does not fall in love with the three ball, and has shown he can take slower defenders off of the bounce and finish around the rim. His play this Spring with Nebraska Supreme on the New Balance Circuit has shown that he can compete with the best of the best at his position. At 6', Thomas is one of the quickest guards you will find in his class. His speed and change of direction allows him to blow by defenders and get to the rim at ease. Once Thomas gets going downhill, he is a master at getting to his spots and finishing around the rim and through contact. In addition, he also has a very nice 15-foot mid range pull-up in his arsenal, and can light it up from deep. It will be intriguing to watch how his recruitment pans out this summer. The first team all-state prospect is a playmaking point guard who has an elite ability to create for both himself and his teammates. Pokorski does a great job penetrating and finding the paint, which opens up opportunities for himself to finish at the rim or to find his bigs for easy dump-offs or kick out three's to shooters on the wing. To put it simply, when the ball is in his hands, something good will happen. Pokorski would be a steal for any D2 program in the midwest, and can easily fit into the right D1 system. He lists several D1 offers already, with the potential to earn a lot more as the summer continues. Not only is Jackson an elite scorer (shooting 53% FG and 42% from 3 this past season for Bellevue West), but he also is a tremendous defender at the guard position. Jackson's ability to make major contributions on both ends of the court are very appealing to college coaches. When the next rankings come out for Prep Hoops, Strong's name will take a huge leap up. The guard prospect out of Omaha North has had a stellar campaign thus far with Omaha Elite. He is another great two-way guard out of Omaha who plays under control and with great pace on offense. His length and athleticism allow him to finish over smaller guards and cause chaos on the defensive end of the floor. Strong has a great fame and loads of potential.
