I have a few leftover names from Saturday that really impressed, and a handful of guys that finished out the event with strong performances Sunday. Let’s take a look at a big group of names who played at a high level at the West Coast Clash.
Tyler Engelson | Catch Spokane | Priest River/ID | 2025
It was a tough weekend for his Catch Spokane team, but Engelson showed incredible fight and toughness throughout the weekend. He has the mentality to keep pushing through adversity and was ultra-confident in his ability to put the ball in the hole.
Koby McClure Koby McClure 6'1" | PG Prosser | 2025 State WA | Central WA Select | Prosser/WA | 2025
The standout guard from Prosser was in full control for most of the weekend, hitting jumpers from the mid-range and passing teammates open again and again. He was under control, pushing an aggressive pace, and hitting teammates in the shooting pocket with one-handed passes, left or right-handed.
Dennis Johnson III Dennis Johnson III 6'2" | CG Renton | 2025 State WA | Renton Select | Renton/WA | 2025
Johnson was easily one of the most impressive players of the weekend and poured in a big game against BDH Elite, helping Renton Select pull out a big win in a close game. He led them to a perfect weekend at 4-0 and atop the top group in the 16U division.
Mavryk Bentley | Central WA Select | Grandview/WA | 2025
Bentley is an impressive player with some good versatility. He has the length to affect the game inside but also has a good enough feel with the ball in his hands to make some plays from the perimeter. He displayed a soft stroke from the mid-range and at the free-throw line, as well as tipping in offensive rebounds for second-chance buckets.
Jabari Preston | Prospect Kids | Spanaway Lake/WA | 2025
Preston is a strong guard with good size who has the ability to absorb contact inside and was one of the main ballhandlers for PK. He is a prospect to watch as a kid who’s already physically mature and can mix in shots from deep as well as knock down the freebies at the line.
Nyale Robinson Nyale Robinson 5'10" | PG Rainier Beach | 2025 State WA | Prospect Kids | Skyline/WA | 2025
His stop-and-go game was off the charts and he was constantly getting defenders on their heels with his quick handle. He showed off some slick passing that even caught some teammates off guard with the windows he was threading. Robinson sprinkled in some long-range shots too and was a real playmaker for his team.
Drew Metke Drew Metke 6'4" | SG Capital | 2025 State WA | Roots Academy | Captial/WA | 2025
The long wing for Roots has playmaking capabilities on both ends of the floor, showing he can block shots with his length, find cutters with his passing ability, and score from inside and out with nice touch on the high-rising jumper.
Bradley Giesen | Renton Select | Juanita/WA | 2025
He was a real strong finisher at the rim and was able to get downhill in a hurry after setting up defenders with a quick crossover. He was especially strong on the left side but went both ways enough to keep defenders honest. He made a couple of hustle plays in transition to shut down opposing breaks and steal back possession.
Daniel Jackson | Renton Select | Renton/WA | 2025
Jackson is a long, athletic kid who showed real potential on the defensive end with an exceptional motor. He also has some promise handling the ball and creating from the perimeter as a long wing player.
Micah Anderson Micah Anderson 6'3" | PG North Thurston | 2025 State WA | Roots Academy | North Thurston/WA | 2025
Anderson is a tough guard who was doing a ton of work in the heart of the defense. He worked his way into the paint with crossovers and spins, and hit contested paint shots on multiple occasions, sometimes through multiple defenders.
Khaled Artharee Khaled Artharee 6'5" | SF Gresham | 2025 State OR | More Than Hoops | Gresham/OR | 2025
This guy was a huge threat catching at the high post and beating guys off the dribble to get to the cup. He was equally effective going to work off the bounce from the outside with a lot of his success coming from beating his man with a quick first move. He’s able to handle the rock in tight spaces and weave his way to the hoop with good footwork and length.
Josaiah Asuega | Seahawks Elite | South Kitsap/WA | 2025
Asuega is a big kid that showcased some serious moves inside. He knew how to use his size, combining great footwork, a plethora of low post moves, and some really soft touch at the rim.
Rylan Nelson | Central WA Select | Cashmere/WA | 2025
Nelson was a lethal lefty shooter that started out hot from the arc and then started to work his way inside. He was patient with his drives to the hoop and had some really focused finishes at the rim.
Dayne Cardoza Dayne Cardoza 6'0" | PG Ingraham | 2025 State WA | BDH Elite | Ingraham/WA | 2025
Cardoza is a gritty guard who can bounce back from tough stretches to come through in big moments. He did just that against More Than Hoops Saturday night to help close out a big win with a nice run in the final minutes. He can hit from 3-point, make athletic finishes at the rim, and works his tail off to contribute on the glass when his team needs a boost.
