Expert Analysis
Ryan Morgan | Prep Hoops Scout
Anderson is a strong guard who adds some physicality to the backcourt with his ability to absorb contact on drives, power up for finishes inside, and contribute on the glass. He’s upped his scoring average to 15.3 ppg this year and he’s a guy who can work to the line (118 FTA) and capitalize on those opportunities at the stripe (71% FT). His ability to score inside the arc stems from controlled two-foot attacks and a variety of finishing moves.

North Thurston had a few guys leading the way stat-wise but Anderson might have led the way in heady plays. He was calm on the ball, he read the floor with excellent vision and awareness, and made plays both passing and scoring to help the Rams pull away with the big victory over Kelso. His passes were on time and on target, in one instance, knowing where he was swinging the ball before it got to him and quickly assisting on an open 3. When it came time to pull from 3 himself, he had great rotation and a snappy follow through. He also demonstrated great footwork to reverse pivot away from the defender in the midrange and sink the 12-foot shot. It was a well-rounded game for Anderson who’s a big part of what they do and one reason why the Rams are a dangerous team in the 3A tournament.

I like this kid’s athletic ability and potential. He is probably the best athlete on the team with good length for a guard. He was the starting point guard in the games I watched last season, although North Thurston has plenty of capable ball handling guards. He showed some solid ball skills as well as the ability to shoot off the dribble. He didn’t appear out of place as a freshman. He played well with a lot of confidence for a young player. I see the biggest upside of any player on this team with him. Look for big things in his sophomore season. He has all the tools to make some noise as one of the more talented young players in the south sound.

Anderson is another player probably floating under the radar. He is one of the most poised players from his class, running the offense with supreme confidence and a phenomenal blend of patience and pace. He can hit the three, go to the rack, and pull up for floaters, but the thing that drives his game is his decision making. He keeps his dribble going and lures defenders where he wants them to open up space for his teammates. He has exceptional vison and court awareness and is going to be the leader for a North Thurston squad that could make some noise in the coming season.

Anderson was bar none my favorite player to watch, as he has been the last few times I’ve gotten to see him. He is such a steady presence on the floor and quietly commands attention, leading the attack with smooth, controlled decision-making. The first thing that catches my eye is the pace he plays with. He’s always looking to push the ball but it’s at a controlled, slightly accelerated pace that allows him time to see the whole floor and make the right play. Never hurried, always moving, he creates so many looks for teammates just through his own drives and ability to hold his dribble. He’s a stud in the 2025 class that deserves much more attention than he is currently getting.

The North Thurston product plays well beyond his years and his talent is readily apparent. He’s tall, long, and quick with the ball, and makes smart, snapshot decisions. He has no trouble scoring from any spot on the floor but is first concerned with playing floor general and distributing the ball. North Thurston is a team that could make a big leap in the SSC 3A, which had a lot of parity last season below the top two teams.
