The spring flew by and June will be here before we know it. In the month of June, high school basketball players typically spend a good amount of time with their high school teams. However, there are still plenty of AAU tournaments and players to check out. In this article, we are looking at players from [program_tooltip program_id='2131095' first='Black' last='Hills Express'], [program_tooltip program_id='2338386' first='Dakota' last='Niners'], Sacred Hoops, SD Elite, and [program_tooltip program_id='2145852' first='SD' last='Identity'].

We have 14 ballers that have looked good this spring and we believe that that will have an even better month of June!

June Players To Watch

[player_tooltip player_id='1625181' first='Boston' last='Katzer'] (2024) |6'3 G/F| [program_tooltip program_id='2145852' first='SD' last='Identity'] 16U

He showed a lot of growth in the last tournament. If Boston stays on his path of development that he is currently on, he is going to solidify himself as one of the best guards in his class. Last tournament he shot it good from deep, easily got to the rim, but the most impressive thing was his passing ability. Katzer was making his teammates better and it ended up opening things up more for himself to thrive.

[player_tooltip player_id='1819752' first='Caden' last='Selby'] (2024) |6'8 G/F| [program_tooltip program_id='2338386' first='Dakota' last='Niners'] 17U Johnson

He had a fantastic season for the Longhorns who went to State and won 23 games. Selby has continued that high-level of play in AAU ball. Caden has been on absolute fire from deep in the last two tournaments with the [program_tooltip program_id='2338386' first='Dakota' last='Niners']. Expect that kind of scoring & shooting to continue in June. Selby is a tough shot maker and he can score from anywhere. College coaches should take a looked at Selby. He is 6'8, is a major shooter, and he can score in transition.

[player_tooltip player_id='1535881' first='Carter' last='Tetzlaff'] (2025) |6'0 G| Sacred Hoops 16U Edman

He is coming off his best weekend of the summer so far. Carter can score at all 3 levels and can get to his shot any time he wants. Tetzlaff is a smooth scorer who finishes at the rim extremely well. He is a very good defender and great at jumping passing lanes and getting out in transition. You should expect him to continue to improve on the defensive end because he has the quickness and instincts to be an elite ball stopper. Offensively, Tetzlaff had to play a lot of PG for Sacred Hoops because of some injuries to key guys on the team, with them back in the lineup he can move back to his preferred SG position where he can use his ability to move without the basketball to increase his scoring and play making.

[player_tooltip player_id='1651329' first='Colby' last='Flowers'] (2026) |6'4 PF| South Dakota Elite 15U

He has been playing extremely well so far this season. Flowers competes at a high level and he works harder than anyone else he plays against. Colby rebounds well, runs the floor and his team is now running more sets for him because he has developed a post game to finish inside. He is SD Elite's glue guy and now he is becoming more and more confident offensively.

[player_tooltip player_id='1970467' first='Dalyn' last='Dschaak'] (2025) |6'2 SG| [program_tooltip program_id='2131095' first='Black' last='Hills Express'] 16U

He has standout athleticism with a 31" vertical leap and is a sprinter/jumper/javelin thrower on the track team. Dschaak recently qualified for the AA State Track Meet in the Javelin. In addition, he was also a starter at wide receiver for the Sturgis Scoopers. Dalyn is a terrific all-around athlete that will be counted on heavily in all sports for the Scoopers. As a basketball player, Dschaak is a multi-faceted player. He has a good jump shot and does well getting to the rim. As a sophomore, he averaged 14 points and 8 rebounds per game at the Junior Varsity level. Dalyn can defend multiple positions and is not afraid of the big moment. The Scoopers new coach Dan Skinner has high expectations for this in-coming junior. Dschaak has had a high quality spring with the [program_tooltip program_id='2131095' first='Black' last='Hills Express']. Expect him to continue that level of play and for him to keep improving.

[player_tooltip player_id='1373691' first='Gavin' last='Soukup'] (2024) |6'3 SG| Sacred Hoops Willard 17U

He is a kid who gets better every time he steps on the floor. His work ethic is incredible, which stems from his competitiveness. The kid doesn't like to lose. He already has a college level jump shot, and continues to work to round out his game. Gavin's length bothers people on defense, he has become someone who can rebound in traffic and finish at the rim. His overall mind for the game puts the ceiling for Gavin extremely high, expect him to keep rising.

[player_tooltip player_id='1490534' first='Jake' last='Jorenby'] (2024) |6'7 SF| [program_tooltip program_id='2145852' first='SD' last='Identity'] 17U

He is going to have a big month of June. Jake impressed a lot of people at the Battle of the Lakes with his overall competitiveness and effort level. Jorenby was a menace on the boards and as games went along his confidence and aggressiveness rose game by game. I think Jake is going to reach that next level these next two tournaments by focusing on playing above the rim with his athletic ability and showing that he is an elite rebounder.

[player_tooltip player_id='1493897' first='Jet' last='Janvrin'] (2024) |6'0 PG| Sacred Hoops Willard 17U

He will have a great month of June because his dedication to getting better is unmatched. Jet drives across the entire state of South Dakota every week for practices and tournaments and has not missed a single thing. Janvrin has been playing extremely well, he is a true point guard that has shown he can score as well. Jet gets his teammates involved because he knows where everyone on the court is at all times, and his ability to get to the rim and hit a jump shot are underrated.

[player_tooltip player_id='1959438' first='Kuai' last='Mayen'] (2026) |6'0 G| South Dakota Elite 15U

He is a high IQ player with extreme athleticism, 3 point shot, and a mid range game. He is basically SD Elite's 6th man, but he's also a top 4-5 scorer for the team. Kuai has finished as the top scorer or second leading scorer in multiple games now. He will be attending Jefferson HS in Sioux Falls next year and you should expect good things. The kid can flat out play and his best basketball is ahead of him. As Mayen gets stronger his athleticism will be even more fully on display.

[player_tooltip player_id='1625207' first='Lukas' last='Morgan'] (2024) |6'7 SF| [program_tooltip program_id='2145852' first='SD' last='Identity'] 17U

He caught a lot of attention up in Minneapolis. Morgan has picked up a few NAIA offers, he now is gaining D2 traction. His 6'7" broad shouldered frame, with the ability to step outside and shoot really is proving valuable in his recruitment. With Identity's uptempo style of play, he is going to get to showcase his shooting abilities, as well as his interior presence. [program_tooltip program_id='2145852' first='SD' last='Identity']'s focus for Morgan's development is quickening his decision making and playing at different speeds. If you have not watched him yet, you better check him out soon.

[player_tooltip player_id='1625208' first='Luke' last='Bruns'] (2024) |6'1 SG| [program_tooltip program_id='2145852' first='SD' last='Identity'] 16U

[player_tooltip player_id='1625208' first='Luke' last='Bruns'] definitely lives up to his last name. At the Battle he was averaging 3 threes per game. He hit 8 threes in the very first game. Luke is one of the top shooters in his class and will continue to prove that in the upcoming tournaments. Every game you could see his confidence grow as an all around playmaker, expect to see it grow even more as the summer goes on.

[player_tooltip player_id='1529879' first='Myles' last='Meyer'] (2025) |6'7 PF| Sacred Hoops 16U Edman

He has all the skills you would want in a big man, and the work ethic to match. Myles has great touch from 15 feet and in. Myles has a great knack for getting offensive rebounds. Meyer is shooting above 90% from the free throw line this summer and he gets there frequently. He does a very good job of rebounding, getting the ball to a guard and then getting out and running in transition to post-up early to get easy looks before the defense gets set. Myles is always asking questions and trying to learn and improve his game. Expect the BIG man to continue to work on his footwork and post move repertoire as well as get in the weight room to get stronger. Meyer has all the tools and work-ethic to be a great college prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id='1970554' first='Tiegen' last='Wormstadt'] (2025) |6'0 G| [program_tooltip program_id='2131095' first='Black' last='Hills Express'] 16U

He has terrific speed and jumping ability. Tiegen is a 5'10" high jumper who qualified for three events in the AA state track meet (high jump, 110 hurdles, 300 hurdles). He also plays football and does a good job of using his athleticism on the gridiron. As a basketball player, Wormstadt was a rotational guy for the varsity team and was often asked to defend the other teams best offensive player when he was on the floor. He arguably has as quick a first step as anybody in the entire state of South Dakota. Teigen is a terrific teammate who is also expected to do big things for Coach Skinner and the Scoopers. On the AAU scene, Tiegen has looked good and showed flashes of great production & athleticism. Wormstadt is a player to watch in June.

[player_tooltip player_id='1421603' first='Quincy' last='Thu'] (2024) |6'1 SG| [program_tooltip program_id='2338386' first='Dakota' last='Niners'] 17U Johnson

He helped the Warriors get to the State B Tournament. Castlewood won 20 games and Thu was a big part of that. Quincy has been sidelined with an an injury for a month but is ready to get back on the court. He will be back healthy and ready to make some noise in June. Quincy defends 1-5, is strong, and he gets to bucket with quickness or can bully his way to the bucket.
