Katzer is a football stud who’s committed to Northern State University to play quarterback, and he’s a physical guard on the basketball court as well. He plays through and at contact in a downhill manner, and is proving to me to be a more well-rounded and developed offensive product than I had him tabbed for.

I’m starting to like Katzer more and what he brings to the table for Lennox this season. He has a heavy and important role for this years team. He’s being counted on to be a scorer and play with assertiveness for Lennox. He’s doing such and is attacking the rim at will. He’s playing with a bunch of physicality and overpowering opponents in the paint. In the win over Groton Area, Katzer hit a big three in the fourth quarter. He finished with 15 points in the game.

Katzer was handling the ball more than I expected. I saw Lennox prior to this game and knew he was handling it more, but he was definitely one of the main ball-handlers, even over

. Katzer is a big guard that uses a football mindset on the basketball court as well. He used his speed and power to get by the defense going to his right hand. He nearly went to his right every time but they still couldn’t keep him out of the paint. Pine Ridge didn’t have a big body to matchup with him, so he actually posted up smaller players at times, as well. Katzer had a big second half scoring all 11 of his points in the half. Ended with a double-double with 10 rebounds and three assists.

This is Boston’s first year with Lennox. He was a star as a QB on the football team. He’s a strong, physical guard that likes to attack defenders and use his body. Didn’t shoot the ball well but still scored the ball and was impactful rebounding, assisting, steals, and deflections. Had a knack for finding and coming up with the ball.

He really impressed me on Friday night w/ 20 points, 4 trips & a comeback win. Better shooter & passer than I realized
WHY? He will be new at Lennox and they will easily be one of the top teams in SD class A. It will be interesting to see how Katzer fits in with the Orioles and what role he plays. Boston has some familiarity with the program as he has played AAU for coach Buckmiller in the past. Katzer will likely be the QB for the football team this fall and he should carry that success/momentum into the hoops season. PHD will watch plenty of Lennox basketball this winter and we are excited to see Mr. Katzer in the black and orange. I am also hoping to see Boston back on the Circuit next AAU season for multiple events.
