Brooks Hinson Brooks Hinson 6'1" | PG Marshfield | 2025 State #251 Nation WI — CG — Wisconsin Playmakers
Hinson was one of the MVP’s of the Midwest Showdown. Even though he was matching up against some top talent, I thought that the combo guard separated himself from the competition. The confidence that Hinson plays with is incredible to see. Regardless of what happened on the previous play, Hinson has a short memory. He typically bounces back and makes up for his mistakes. Hinson had some great performances in Appleton!
Jaquan Johnson Jaquan Johnson 5'10" | PG Pius XI | 2024 State WI — PG — Wisconsin Playground Club
For Johnson, it has always been heart over height. Even though the point guard is undersized, the Wisconsin Playground Club star just finds a way. It seems as if Johnson is able to will his team to victory. I really like how the PG doesn’t shy away from the big moment. On Saturday with time ticking down, Johnson hit a tough mid-range jumper to put his team ahead for good. I would encourage college programs to take a good look at Johnson. His ability to score is unmatched.
Tim Franks Tim Franks 6'5" | SG Homestead | 2024 State WI — SG — Champman Basketball Academy
Franks had another big weekend at the Midwest Showdown. The shooting guard has been known as primarily a long-range shooter. And while he certainly is a sniper from long range, I have been really impressed with the other aspects of Franks’ game. Franks can put the ball on the floor and score or use his court vision to locate cutting teammates. Franks has really good touch around the rim, too. At the college level, Franks is poised to make a major impact.
Perry Dorris Perry Dorris 6'0" | PG Martin Luther | 2025 State WI — PG — Chapman Basketball Academy
Dorris was no doubt one of my favorite prospects to watch this weekend. The Chapman Basketball Academy point guard is a pure bucket-getter. When the offense slows down in the half-court, Dorris is a reliable isolation scoring threat. He knocks down threes, makes shots in the midrange, and puts pressure on the rim. Dorris was unstoppable in Appleton and extremely fun to watch.
Savion Caine — SG — Power Circle
Caine is certainly a name to watch this summer. I thought that the Power Circle shooting guard played great basketball at the Midwest Showdown. He consistently made winning plays. He made plays for himself and his teammates. It seems like Caine always has his finger on the pulse of the game. Whenever his team needs a big play, Caine steps up.
Amari Allen — SG — Wisconsin Playground Club
Allen has pure talent. He stands at 6-foot-7 and is extremely athletic. He has all of the physical attributes necessary for success. Typically the most talented players aren’t the hardest workers on the floor. This doesn’t apply to Wisconsin Playground Club’s Allen. The shooting guard gives it his all until the buzzer sounds. Defensively, Allen has the potential to be great. He uses his length and quickness well to stay in front of ball handlers. In transition, Allen can be a dangerous weapon, too. The SG threw down some big dunks in Appleton.
