Class of 2024 Prospects Shine Right Away
The Havoc in the Heartland wasted no time getting the stage set on Friday evening at Fishers High School. There were several standout performances in that first round of games at 7:00 p.m. that deserve some attention. First, it was Sam Hans (Lake County Lutheran 2024) who got the party started for Closed Gyms 2024. This sharp-shooting 6’4″ wing first jumped onto my radar at the Chi-Town Tip-Off and picked up right where he left off this weekend. Hans was making shots while running off of screens both from beyond the arc and in the mid-range.
Elsewhere during that first time slot, Kendall Bentley (River Rouge H.S. 2024) had it going for Hopson Elite 2024. The talented 6’1″ guard displayed explosiveness off of the bounce, physicality at the end of his drives, and a smooth pull-up jump shot as well. Speaking of physicality and impressive strength, both Nick Glover (Warren Central H.S. 2024) and Abdul Mitchell Abdul Mitchell 6'5" | PF Evansville Bosse | 2024 State IN (Owensboro H.S. 2024) showed off their physical tools for EG10 2024 early on Friday night. Both of those guys can impact the game with their strength on both ends of the floor.
CJ Valente CJ Valente 6'5" | PF Batavia | 2024 State IL (Batavia H.S. 2024) was excellent for M14 Hoops 2024 National 1 in a hard fought win against Indy Heat – Competitive Greatness 2024. The 6’4″ versatile wing rebounded at a high level, finished around the basket, and played through contact off of the dribble to score some big buckets down the stretch. For Indy Heat – CG, it was dynamic playmaking point guard Deric Cannady Deric Cannady 5'11" | PG Cathedral | 2025 State IN (Cathedral H.S. 2025) who was the star while playing up an age division.
Indiana Ambition 2025 Outlasts EG10 2025
In what was very likely the game of the night on Friday at Fishers High School, Indiana Ambition 2025 held on for a 67-63 win over EG10 2025. Jace Jenkins (Princeton H.S. 2025) had it cooking from beyond the arc, 6’7″ forward Mitchel Edwards Mitchel Edwards 6'6" | PF Carmi | 2025 State IL (Carmi White H.S. 2025) was good around the basket, and Jay Summit (Evansville Harrison H.S. 2025) flashed more of his dynamic two-way versatility. However, even in the loss, the story of this one was EG10 2025’s Josiah Ball Josiah Ball 6'5" | SF Maconaquah | 2025 State IN (Maconaquah H.S. 2025).
The 6’5″ versatile forward poured in 32 points to go with 8 rebounds in the tough defeat. Ball is excellent off of the bounce for his size consistency creating his own shot from the mid-range where he is very efficient. His mixture of size and skill makes him a very intriguing prospect to keep an eye on.
Young Prospects Stand Out to End the Night
The young guns were up last on Friday night and they did not disappoint. I primarily watched Team F.E.E.D. Sports Inc. 2026 as they were a group I had not seen yet this spring. Boy did they impress me in a hurry. Albert Gooden III (Lawrence Central H.S. 2026) was the best of the bunch scoring 19 points in a blowout 69-37 win over Grand Park Premier Black 2026. However, his high school teammate Doron Harris Doron Harris 5'10" | PG Lawrence Central | 2026 State IN (Lawrence Central H.S. 2026) was impressive in the backcourt as well adding 14 points in the contest.
In the loss for Grand Park, left-handed guard Camden Bell Camden Bell 6'1" | PG Wapahani | 2026 State IN (Wapahani H.S. 2026) led the way with 13 points. His poise with the ball against the size and athleticism of Team F.E.E.D. caught my eye along with his smooth outside shooting stroke. Additionally, despite scoring just five points, Brody Sutton Brody Sutton 6'5" | SF Westfield | 2026 IN (Westfield H.S. 2026) really stood out for their squad. The 6’4″ forward was consistently going and getting rebounds outside of his area and appeared very mobile for his size and age.
On another court, I caught a bit of the Circle City Shooters Elite 2026 team featuring 6’1″ playmaking guard Kyle Higgins (Ben Davis H.S. 2026). He continued his strong spring while leading Circle City in scoring on their way to a weekend-opening win over ColeWorldElite 2026. Jeremy Stubblefield (Ben Davis H.S. 2026) and Michael Gibson (Ben Davis H.S. 2026) also flashed at different times as they cruised to victory.
