SubscribeThe weekend at Triton Central High school brought a ton of talent to the Indianapolis area where we got the chance to see high level players at each position compete for a championship. Below were the top guards at the event.

Bowman was playing up an age group competing in the 2027 division but he did more than just hold his own, he shined. He is a big time playmaker that makes things happen on the offensive end. He was really good getting to the paint and finding teammates, especially open shooters on the perimeter. He has deep 3pt range both off the catch and dribble and wasn’t afraid to take the big shots for them. He finished off a great weekend making the game winning free throw with no time on the clock to get a big win over Team Robinson.

Duff without question had the best court vision and passing ability I have seen so far thus summer in the 2027 class. He has an unbelievable feel for the game that can see things other players can’t. He is an elite passer with either hand and does a great job looking defenders off to get guys more open shots than they were going to get. On top of all of that, he was one of the better shooters of the weekend making timely 3’s from distance. Duff is a fearless competitor that players want to play with as he makes them better.

Hogue is a big time guard with great size that really looks to be aggressive on both ends of the court. Although he was a bit inconsistent this weekend with his jumper, he was ultra aggressive getting to the basket and scoring over defenders. He is very crafty and has a great handle which allows him to get to pretty much any spot on the floor whenever he wants. In transition, he was pretty much unstoppable once he got going. Him figuring out how to change pace and speed will be the next step in his development.

Miller is a combo guard that has an extremely high IQ for the game and is ultra skilled. You can tell watching him he really understands the game which allows him to get easy shots. He has a great handle and crafty on drives which allows him to be a very good finisher with either hand. Defenders must respect his jump shot as he can knock down 3’s consistently if left open. An underrated part of his game is his play making ability for others. He was one of the best all weekend dumping the ball off to his big men when defenders collapsed. Miller will have a bright future.

Alexander is a scrappy guard that is a big time competitor. He was in constant attack mode all weekend trying to get to the rim and finish. He has big time athleticism and speed which made it easy for him to get to the rim and also be elite in transition. He was at his best when the game became up tempo and could get out and run. I really liked the the instincts he plays with as he was great defensively anticipating passes and stealing to go finish. I loved Alexanders game.

Baskerville was one of the most talked about players at the event. Has a unique skillset for him to use his athleticism and speed to be an elite driver but the high skill level to shoot from deep 3pt distance. His ability to shoot was what opened the floor up for him because he had to be guarded pretty much everywhere on the court. The edge and swagger he plays with is what you look for in a high level player. He has it. Big time player.

Cade Jr. has a great feel for the point guard position. Plays with a great pace and does a good job getting teammates involved. He never really got sped up and picked his spots to score. His jump shot looked really good with a high, compact release and was pretty consistent off the catch. He had a really good weekend, however at times I would have loved for him to be a little more selfish on the offensive end and take more shots.

Murphy had a good weekend here in Indianapolis. He is primarily a driver that has big time quickness and shiftiness to his game which allows him to attack the basket effectively. He doesn’t shy away from contact on drives which it seems like he actually embraced the contact and was better in traffic. He was another player that was at his best in an uptempo game and when the game got scrappy.

Patterson Jr. had a really solid weekend leading Big Energy to the championship game. He had an overall consistent weekend running his team and getting everyone involved. His size caused defenders a lot of problems, especially when he got to the paint to score at the rim. Patterson Jr. has been a player who is continuing to improve tournament after tournament so I am excited to see how his career eventually ends up.
