Grassroots Program Feature: City Rocks ZGXL Pt. 1

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Zero Gravity Exposure League (ZGXL) &amp; Grassroots XL hosted the Session 2 – ZG Live in Atlantic City event at the Atlantic City Convention Center in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Competition level was high as teams fought to position themselves well in the standings for the Championship Event in July. The City Rocks ZGXL team features players representing several different graduating classes from the Section IV; consisting of great guard play, knockdown shooters and lockdown defenders. Truax has been recognized as one of the top shooters in the Section IV and has brought is high level shooting ability to the Grassroots XL circuit. Truax has an effortless shooting motion and can get his shot off quickly from the catch and from the dribble, is known for rattling off 3's on consecutive possessions, waits for the defense to fall asleep and makes them pay. Does a great job at creating space and getting himself open for shots. In addition to being a knock down shooter from distance, Truax has a tight handle and possesses the ability to break defenders down off the dribble and can finish through contact at the rim. Good athlete and works extremely hard on his craft, is starting to play above the rim and has had several fast break dunks in the first two sessions. Defensively he takes pride in his ability to win at the point of attack and never shy's away from a defensive assignment. Truax is a true point guard and has the ability to control the pace of the game, does a great job at putting teammates in position to be successful. Truax has a tight handle and is unstoppable in one on one situations, can get into the paint any time he wants and either scores or finds a teammate for an open shot. Understands time, score and situations while exhibiting a high basketball IQ. Great communicator and is an extension of the coach on the floor. Offensively he can score at all three levels and is relentless when attacking the rim. Quick release from the catch u0026amp; shoot, very streaky and can get hot quickly, he knocked in his first 5 three point attempts in the first 8 minutes of the championship game at Session 1. Recently was described as 'unguardable off the dribble, unstoppable from the 3 point line, and unbearable as an on ball defender.' Standish-Warpus is young for a his grade and is having no problem competing on the ZGXL grassroots circuit. Strong and athletic, solid on both the offensive and defensive sides of the floor. Offensively he does a great job at turning the corner and getting into the heart of the defense, has the ability to finish through contact at the rim and makes good decisions when the help side defense is in place. Solid on ball defender, uses his strength and athleticism to disrupt the offensive player, sits down in a stance and can turn a ball handler for the whole length of the floor. Noble is one of two underclassmen on this 17u team and is contributing and playing at a high level. Extremely athletic, gets off his feet quickly and plays above the rim, can jump off both one foot and two feet. Uses his athleticism in all facets of the game but most impressively as a rebounder, uses positioning well and then can reach the ball at its highest point, rebounds well on both offense and defense. Defensively he can guard positions 1 through 4, sitting down in a stance to pressure ball handlers or using his length to deny bigger players in the post. Offensively he can play inside and outside as well, strong shooter and has been consistently knocking down 3 pointers when his teammates draws the help, does a good job at relocating and finding open space for his shots. Benowski is the second of the two underclassmen on this roster and is the epitome of a knockdown shooter. Quick release and does a great job at getting himself open for shots, runs off pin down screens and spaces the floor extremely well when his PG is running off of high ball screens, if his feet are set there is a high probability of it going in. Benowski has a high basketball IQ and continues to improve every time we see him on the floor.
