These are some of the Dallas, Texas areas best big men entering the AAU circuit and looking to make names for themselves at the grassroots level. Majority of these kids are already household names for college coaches, others I suspect will be by the end of July this year. These are not your typical big’s; they rebound, dunk, step out for three, and yes most can put the ball on the floor. The summer is a great time to increase your basketball stock and these kids are poised to do so. Keep in mind I have not featured all the best bigs for the next few years classes however, these front court players are without a doubt names you want to remember out of Dallas.
Doryan Onwuchekwa Doryan Onwuchekwa 6’10” | C Oak Cliff Faith Family Academy | 2024 State #101 Nation TX (2024) C |6-11| Faith Family Academy Oak Clif
Doryan is a throwback big that basketball needs to see more of, yet he has shown he can step out and knock down the open trail three pointer when necessary. Doryan pursues every rebound which is always what coaches desire from a good big. The hands are there enabling him to catch and finish, although I would like to see him establish lower post position instead of his tendency to float out near the free throw line. Onwuchekwa is a good shot blocker and rim protector, and there is no collegiate team that can’t use that skillset. If he can work on his explosion off the floor and feet speed this summer I can see him going high major.
Nicolas Codie Nicolas Codie 6’9″ | PF Newman Smith | 2024 State #42 Nation TX (2024) PF |6-8| Newman Smith HS
Codie is a kid with great upside. First off he has the basketball playing frame. Six foot eight with a 7-2 wingspan he is able to naturally block shots and rim protect. This summer he will look to expand his game by demonstrating an ability to consistently knock down the mid range, and or the pick and pop three. The athleticism and rebounding is always there and he plays with great energy. I would like to see him develop some “go to” low post moves such as a jump hook, or up and under. With some footwork training he can make a team better at the next level.
Dillon Battie Dillon Battie 6’8″ | PF Lancaster | 2024 State #146 Nation TX (2024) PF |6-8| Lancaster H
I expect a break out summer from Dillon. What stands out immediately watching him play is his jumping ability. He has dunk everything mindset that can take him far. Surprisingly Battie’s game does not consist of strictly dunks. He can shoot the ball out to range and also shoot off the dribble. Furthermore he utilizes his strength and positioning very well to get to his jump hook in the low post. BUT, does Dillon have the will to dominate? I would like to see him expand his game from a ten points, ten rebounds double double guy to a twenty points twenty rebounds guys. If he approaches this summers Grassroots circuit looking to achieve these type numbers every game he could see his stock rise sky high.
Highlights
Parker Jefferson Parker Jefferson 6’10” | C Waxahachie | 2025 State #46 Nation TX PF/C (2025) |6-9| Waxahachie HS
Parker is a stretch four that can shoot the ball at a high clip. He has the ability to put the ball on the floor and pull up without picking up the charge. Also he displays healthy feet on defense guarding the pick n roll. Meaning he has the athleticism to show and recover which is extremely important if he plans on playing professionally one day. I do think Parker can be more effective if he doesn’t spend so much time out beyond the three point line. Other wise I will be keeping a close eye on his production over the summer as he continues to grow into his body his game will improve.
Francis Chukwudebelu Francis Chukwudebelu 6’10” | C Oak Hill Academy | 2025 #138 Nation VA (2025) C |6-10| Prestonwood H
Currently a 4- star recruit I can see Francis improving this ranking quickly into the summer. With big broad shoulders and long arms, he keeps the ball high and dunks pretty much everything near the rim. Chukwudebelu has a 7-5 wingspan with ball skills out to three. I can’t imagine there being many centers better than him in his class. As he matures on the court I expect him to start to control the games more, and AAU season is a good time to begin his dominance.
