70 new players were discovered and three re-classified to 2025 from 2024. Then 9 moved out of state or currently stopped playing basketball.
Of the 73 total new players in the 2025 class, 7 fell in the top-50 and 19 in the Top-100 including AJ Thomas AJ Thomas 6'4" | PG Eduprize | 2025 State #292 Nation AZ who is now ranked #5 from the 2024 class.
This obviously means some of the players who were ranked at the top last year saw their ranking drop.
Junior year is usually a separator year. You see the players who were relied on more heavily by their teams and the players who are developing more than others. The first two years, outside of a few of course, players are finding their identities of how they affect the outcome of games.
Our goal at PrepHoopsAZ is to try and recognize anyone who may play college basketball. We will keep searching for new players in preseason camps/events/leagues/Prep Hoops Circuit, Arizona Top-250 EXPO and during the AIA/CAA/Grind Session seasons.

4. Rankings are based on a lot of things. Production, size for position, college coaches, the eye test, ability to score and defend, instincts, IQ, how a player moves, speed, ball handling, shooting, fundamentals. length and possible upside. It is not the easiest thing to do since not all players play in the same leagues for AAU and HS. They can be in the CAA, Grind Session and the AIA obviously has different levels itself. Plus AAU teams may play on National Circuits (3SSB, UAA and EYBL) or play on local independent circuits (Pangos, Prep Hoops, WCE, The Stage and so on). So you put all that information together and create the rankings.
5. Of the 201 players we have 52 PG’s, 44 SG’s, 34 CG’s, 36 SF’s, 29 PF’s and only 6 C’s.
