Now as they look forward to the future, they’ve got one more game to play – WAVOR the Game, where as a part of Team Oregon, the Brown and twin brother Kalim are hopeful that they can help the squad achieve a victory and finish out their careers with a W.
“It’s been an amazing experience,” Brown said. It’s a pretty cool experience being one of the few selected players from Oregon to play against Team Washington. I think it’s a special moment.”
The selection of the Brown twins came after a season where Tigard finished the year just one game from the state tournament, losing to rival Tualatin. “I feel like we proved what we needed to,” Brown said. “We did good as a group, not just single player. I think Douglas and Sawyer this senior year; they showed off their ability to shoot the ball and do what they can do and the talent they have, but also me too. I feel like I did a lot better playmaking this year than I did last year. Shooting wasn’t as good, but other than that, everything went well. We fell short but we were proud of how we finished.”
After WAVOR the Game, the Browns are hopeful they can sort out their college recruitment. Recently they’ve talked the most to Bushnell, who has offered and hosted them on a recent campus visit – where they had some interaction with a former Tigers great.
“I thought it was a great campus,” Brown said. “It’s amazing in that it’s small, but also has that big college experience with Oregon neighboring it, so it was fun. We actually had to work out with (former Tigard standout Stevie Schlabach) and a couple of other teammates. I haven’t talked to him personally, but I know he stayed all four years and he’s going to come back for his fifth year. He’s been able to show his ability from high school to college. He still carries the things that he did well from high school and they kind of put him in the game situations where he fits in.”
While the visit went well and the twins are certainly interested, Brown noted they are open to other schools coming into their recruitment. “We’re looking forward to sending coaches highlights and reaching out to other colleges and see what we can get,” Brown said. “To be honest, the biggest thing for both me and my brother is the cost of college – so that’s a big factor. But other than that, anywhere we can play that we feel comfortable with, I’m down to play wherever.”
