They displayed skill sets that showed that they can do multiple things on the floor and do them well. With that said, we will look at five guards and wings from the Showdown. They definitely displayed ability that will help them at the next level.
Tyler Noone (6’0″ / Freestyle Elite ’25)
Noone was a guard who showed that he has a varied skill set during the Lone Star Showdown. He was able to drive and kick and knock down the outside jumper. His handle had a little flair to it as well that allowed him to make some above average passes to teammates. Noone is a guard that will surprise coaches and onlookers on the Prep Hoops circuit.
Jaxon Sneed (6’2″ / ProSkills MTX)
Sneed was balling during the couple of games I observed during the Lone Star Showdown. He is a player that can heat up from three quickly. Sneed has a quick release that allows him to avoid blocks and even close outs. He can also attack the rim while using up fakes and drives from the wing. Sneed may be one of the better players on the Prep Hoops circuit.
Lantavious Murphy Lantavious Murphy 6'3" | SG Rayville | 2025 State LA (6’3″ / C&S Hoopstars ’24)
Murphy was one of the more athletic wings that played in Dallas during the weekend. He is an above average ballhandler who can penetrate against anyone. Murphy is an excellent finisher in transition and he is a good rebounder. His ability to score at the rim and outside of the paint makes him a good player to watch this summer.
Jayden Jackson Jayden Jackson 5'10" | PG West Monroe | 2025 State LA (5’10” / O.W.E. ’25)
Jackson played the point guard position in a pristine manner during the weekend in Dallas. He displayed the ability to hit the 15 to 18 foot jumper and he showed an ability to make good decisions in transition. Jackson is also clever defensively. He anticipates steals well which allows him to push the ball as well. Jackson is very versatile for his size.
Kheiri Haynes Kheiri Haynes 5'9" | PG Zachary | 2024 State LA (5’10” / LA Bronocos ’24)
There was no guard better than Haynes at running an offense and making timely shots during the Lone Star Showdown. He was deadly from 16 feet in with a nice dribble pull-up jumper he used as his primary weapon. His speed along with his handle made him a tough guard for every team the Broncos played. Haynes is a guard to watch all summer on the Prep Hoops circuit.
Look for other standout guards and wings as the circuit continues all summer.
