Teams ranging all the way from New York to Arkansas descended upon the MidAmerica Sports Center in Louisville, Kentucky to play four games between Saturday and Sunday. I had boots on the ground throughout the event providing extensive coverage on Twitter @BRamseyKSR and obviously here on the Prep Hoops website as well. We will have plenty of content over the next few days recapping the Grit Region Kick-Off, but for now let’s begin by handing out some All-Tournament honors.
First Team
Cameron Edwards Cameron Edwards 6'4" | SF Kentucky Country Day | 2024 State KY (Kentucky Country Day H.S. 2024/Kentucky Supreme 2024): This 6’5″ athlete was excellent all weekend long collecting three double-doubles in his four games at the Grit Region Kick-Off. Edwards has all of the physical tools you could ask for, impressive driving ability, and rebounds his position as well as anyone on the floor. He really showed himself to be an intriguing prospect going into the spring and summer with Kentucky Supreme 2024.
Logan Golle Logan Golle 6'1" | PG Taylor Allderdice | 2024 State PA (Taylor Allderdice H.S. 2024/Pittsburgh Pioneer Elite 2024): Consistency is the name of the game with this skilled guard out of Pittsburgh. Golle is as smooth as they come with the ball in his hands with excellent all-around playmaking ability. He does not get sped up, can make any pass on the floor, and also creates his own shot off of the bounce. His defensive prowess was on display over the weekend as well.
Dashawn Hall Dashawn Hall 6'3" | SG Marion C. Moore | 2024 State KY (Moore H.S. 2024/Vision 2024 Elite): Hall is as athletic as they come in the open floor. He is explosive getting down hill and then getting up around the rim to finish at the end of his drives. The 6’2″ was among the leading scorers for Vision 2024 Elite as they went 3-1 on the weekend, but also stuffed the stat sheet with about four rebounds and four assists per game. Hall is a very good two-way prospect in the backcourt.
Kotterion Owens (Charleston H.S. 2024/Team 4:13): Averaging 17 points per game for a 4-0 team certainly puts you squarely in consideration for first team all tournament. That is what this versatile 6’2″ wing/forward did over the weekend in Louisville. Owens, a prospect out of Missouri, has excellent footwork and ball handling ability for his size. He is built like an undersized post player but has guard-like perimeter skill.
Tino Yli-Junnila (Hudson H.S. 2024/MAC Boys Basketball 2024): You could certainly make a case for several players of the MAC Boys Basketball 2024 team for first team honors, but we settled on this 6’5″ versatile wing. Yli-Junnila was a consistent scoring threat with his ball handling ability, fluid athleticism, and his physical tools on the defensive end of the floor. College coaches need to be recruiting him hard this spring and summer.
Second Team
Elijah Bundy Elijah Bundy 6'3" | PF Clay County | 2024 State KY (Clay County H.S. 2024/KY Hoops 2024): Bundy started the weekend off with 24 points and a number of rebounds in a win over NEBC 2024 and continued his strong play as KY Hoops 2024 finished 3-1 at the Grit Region Kick-Off. The 6’4″ forward plays with a non-stop motor, rebounds very well inside his area, and showed impressive finishing ability at the rim. He is a tad undersized, but makes up for it with strength and competitiveness.
John Clemmons (Caravel H.S. 2023/NEBC 2024): This 6’5″ wing was one of the best unsigned seniors at the event in Louisville this weekend. Clemmons is very long and athletic, rebounds his position as well as anybody, and can get into the paint consistently off of the dribble. He was a double-double machine in NEBC 2024’s games and looked like a guy who could play his way into some late scholarship offers this spring.
Jayson Levis Jayson Levis 6'1" | CG Lutheran West | 2024 State OH (Lutheran West H.S. 2024/MAC Boys Basketball 2024): Levis, who already holds an offer from Division II Walsh, will be one of the most highly sought after DII/DIII/NAIA prospects in Ohio this spring and summer. After helping Lutheran West advance to the Ohio DII state championship game, the skilled 6’2″ guard helped MAC Boys Basketball 2024 go 4-0 this weekend in Louisville. He averaged around 16 points per game
Torrien Perkins Torrien Perkins 6'2" | SG Obama Academy | 2024 State PA (Obama Academy 2024/Pittsburgh Pioneer Elite 2024): Pittsburgh Pioneer Elite 2024 went 4-0 on the weekend thanks to big time performances from several talented players. This 6’3″ wing was certainly one of their leaders. Perkins has a well-rounded offensive skill set that includes a silky outside jumper, good handling ability, and impressive strength and athleticism to finish when he attacks the basket.
Drake Skeen Drake Skeen 6'1" | SG Hopkins County Central | 2024 State KY (Hopkins County Central H.S. 2024/Vision 2024 Elite): Skeen had his shooting ability on full display over the weekend knocking in 44% of his three-point attempts while leading Vision 2024 Elite in scoring at 15 points per game. The 6’1″ guard is a constant threat on the perimeter with his ability to shoot the basketball.
Third Team
Nicholas Brown (Bethel Park H.S. 2024/Pittsburgh Pioneer Elite 2024)
Demarion Coleman (Englewood Stem H.S. 2024/DTM Elite Chicago 2024)
Will Harmon (Massac County H.S. 2024/Team 4:13)
Mike Loftis Mike Loftis 5'10" | PG Holy Cross (Louisville) | 2024 State KY (Holy Cross H.S. 2024/Kentucky Supreme 2024)
Connor Smith Connor Smith 6'5" | SF Marysville | 2023 State OH (Medina H.S. 2024/MAC Boys Basketball 2024)
Honorable Mention
Owen Barnes Owen Barnes 6'3" | SF Mercer County | 2024 State KY (Danville H.S. 2024/Vision 2024 Elite)
Kaden Faber (Thornwood H.S. 2024/DTM Elite Chicago 2024)
Hayden Harris Hayden Harris 6'7" | SF Clay County | 2024 State KY (Clay County H.S. 2024/KY Hoops 2024)
Cal Klinzing (Strongsville H.S. 2024/MAC Boys Basketball 2024)
Dillon Ritchey Dillon Ritchey 6'1" | SG Shelby County | 2024 State KY (Shelby County H.S. 2024/Kentucky Supreme 2024)
