Mercer II looks like he’s ready to have a huge spring. His Motor City Grizzlies team played at Midwest Mania and he turned heads at the event. Over a 3 game stretch, Mercer averaged 24 points per game, and didn’t play in the first half in 1 of those games. He showed a fast first step and some dynamic scoring.
VanderWoude was the subject of a lot of talk over the course of the weekend. He helped his Storm 17u UA Rise team to a Platinum Championship at the Storm Classic. VanderWoude looked like a terrific floor general that got the ball to it’s spots and got buckets when his team needed them. He was highly efficient with both his scoring and distributing.
With his DV45 team, Stephens looked just like he did with Chelsea during high school season. That was highly consistent and highly efficient. Stephens is one of the best players in the state between the ears. His sound all around game was highlighted by a 21 point game and a 19 point game.
Roseman is the 1 player outside of Michigan that I’m putting in this list. He was too explosive to not be mentioned. Roseman went off in a 3 game span. He had 31 points, 32 points and 25 points. He scored from all 3 levels using touch on his finishes and utilizing a pure jumper that he can hit off the bounce and on the catch.
Bentley was at the Spring Kickoff with Hobson Elite 17u. He helped his team come away with an undefeated 5-0 record at the event. He scored in a very efficient manner, utilizing his strength and elusiveness in the mid range. Bentley really impressed with his court vision and passing as well.
I smell a breakout grassroots season. Reynolds is already one of the hottest names early in the grassroots season. At Best of the Best, he had multiple 20 point games. Reynolds was a flat out bucket getter and go-to scorer. He showed off his strength and frame while scoring with physicality. Reynolds really looks like a player to keep a close eye on.
