Stephens simply was not going to let Chelsea’s season end last night and he made that perfectly clear from the opening tip. In fact, he buried 7 triples in the first quarter alone, setting the tone for the rest of the game. Stephens finished with a game high 38 points in the 75-53 win against Onsted.

Stephens just looked like a next level player. He has the frame and physicality for it, that’s for sure. His jumper was solid as always and he was able to shoot over the top of defenders. Stephens looked incredibly comfortable and effective doing work out of the corners and attacking the baseline.

Stephens was one of the more impressive players that I saw during high school season and he’s continuing that trend in grassroots season with DV45. He continues to be not just an elite scorer, but his does it with variety and with efficiency. I don’t think Stephens has ever heard of a bad shot, as his shot selection is tremendous. This spring with DV45, he’s shown the ability to score at all 3 levels and from any spot on the floor.

With his DV45 team, Stephens looked just like he did with Chelsea during high school season. That was highly consistent and highly efficient. Stephens is one of the best players in the state between the ears. His sound all around game was highlighted by a 21 point game and a 19 point game.

Stephens has had an excellent season. He’s sort of been the player of many faces for Chelsea. He handles the ball and sets the offense quite often, but he can also shoot and score like a skilled 2 guard. Stephens can drive the lane like an athletic wing, but can also use his strength to battle on the glass. He’ll play a big part in whether Chelsea moves on to the semifinals.

Stephens was basically unstoppable in his team’s win against Parma Western. Let’s start with the fact that the young man can score. That much is obvious when seeing his 31 point outbreak. He connected from all over the court, from a catch and shoot corner 3 to a right handed drive that led to free throws. Aspects of his game in addition to scoring were equally as impressive. Stephens was comfortable and effective as a primary ball handler when his team needed it and he hit some teammates with pretty passes as well.
