We dive into the positional rankings. We now look at the shooting guards for the freshman class.
Here are the top-7 SG’s in the 2026 class:
Cameron Holmes Cameron Holmes 6'5" | SF Millennium | 2026 State AZ Millennium
The top shooting guard is also the top defender on the list. His ability to guard the 1-4 in high school makes him very valuable. He is a very good passer who can score from all three levels. He has deep three point range and will throw it down in the lane.
Rider Portela Rider Portela 6'5" | SG Sunnyslope | 2026 State AZ Sunnyslope
The all-around scoring guard showed off his talents in the state playoffs. He held his own versus #1 Perry and showed he can score from all levels and defend multiple positions. He can pull-up from mid to the three and play above the rim on the break.
Kristo Jackson Kristo Jackson 6'2" | SG San Tan Charter | 2026 State AZ San Tan Charter
A physical scoring guard can score from all levels. He uses his stronger upper body to score in the paint and can shoot it. He can rise up high and fire away from mid to the three point line. He uses his length and toughness to defend on the ball.
Rylan Parsley Rylan Parsley 6'5" | SG Sandra Day O'Connor | 2026 State AZ Sandra Day O’Connor
A long and lean scoring guard can shoot it and defend the 1-3. He can pull-up from mid-range and shoot the three with ease. He can get downhill, score and defend multiple positions. He is just scratching the surface on his potential.
John Fahrendorf John Fahrendorf 6'3" | SG St. Mary's | 2026 State AZ St. Mary’s
A top of the food chain shooter has good size and a pretty stroke. He can rattle in threes off the catch and pull-up from mid-range off the dribble. He moves without the ball to relocate and scores it in transition.
Zach Cutler Zach Cutler 6'3" | SF AZ College Prep | 2026 State AZ AZ College Prep
If John isn’t, then Zach may be the top shooter in the class. He has range, he gets squared up quickly and stays balanced throughout his shot. He is very good off the catch but he can create a little offense from himself and others. His IQ and skill pop off the page.
Jelani McKoy Jelani McKoy 6'2" | SG Canyon International Academy | 2026 State AZ Dream City Christian International (Pictured)
A super athletic scoring guard is a top notch downhill type of player. He uses his speed and quick first step to get past his defenders and seems to live in the paint. He is a capable shooter but he has good body control to score in the lane and is a fierce defender.
