SubscribeThe second annual April Bash kicks off this weekend. Presented by Chosen Few, the event features teams from around the Southwest and the West Coast. The event is the unofficial kick-off to the Spring Live period, as it takes place the week before college coaches are eligible to come out and lay eyes on players. The tournament-style event features both boys’ and girls’ teams ranging from 8U – 17U. This exposure event will feature heavy media coverage, including Prep Hoops and highlight company Balldawgs. The event was the perfect platform for players to showcase their talents right before the live period. Let’s take a peek at some Sleepers from the event.
Keep an eye on the lefty this Spring. He opened the event with a strong day one showing that he can be a factor on both ends. The lefty PG has improved his shooting, and overall playmaking skills, and could be staking his claim for a big breakout HS season.
Rabb spent last season playing JV, but looks like he may be ready to move up next season. He’s an active defender that uses his long arms to protect the rim. The forward had several big-time swats throughout the game.
Anderson may end up doubling as a stockriser. He showed good athleticism finishing everything around the rim with a dunk. The forward moves well and showed decent hand eye coordination, catching and finishing on the move.
Peery is a young player to keep an eye on. The freshman was a sniper in the game I watched, showing good mechanics, including a consistent release and an understanding of how to come off screens properly. He knocked down three trey’s in the game I watched.
Joshua is a big body type that was a solid glue guy this weekend. He did most of his damage from below the free throw line, providing interior defense, and toughness for his squad. He rebounded the ball well on the defensive end and managed to score around the bucket on putbacks.
White is an intriguing prospect with great positional size. He’s long, and agile and displayed good fundamentals on the offensive side, using footwork, to create space. A Swiss Army Knife type he showed that he can impact games in other ways besides scoring.
Wells was a key piece for an All-Vegas squad that took home the 17U crown. He made himself valuable proving to be one of the better 3 and D guys at the event. Wells defended multiple positions and knocked down several threes in the game I watched.
