Now, we turn our attention to the grassroots season which is already getting underway and will be heating up even more as we approach a live recruiting period later in the month of April. For the Class of 2025 they are about to turn from underclassmen to upperclassmen as they enter their rising junior summer. College coaches will start to take a little bit closer look at these guys now in the coming months. Here are 10 players who could really see themselves garner some attention going into the spring.
Ball has already to started to have a breakout spring with a strong showing at the NY2LA Swish N’Dish in Milwaukee which included a 24-point performance for EG10. The versatile 6’5″ forward can score it in a variety of ways and rebounds very well. Averaged 20.0 points and 6.6 rebounds per game as a sophomore. His best basketball is still ahead of him.
When you mix excellent size and length with high skill level you get a really intriguing prospect. That is what Carpenter, a 6’4″ guard who will play on the UAA Circuit with Grand Park Premier, possesses. The 6’4″ point guard helped to lead the Blue Devils to a Sectional championship while stuffing the stat sheet with 15.4 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 7.4 assists per game. He is one of the best passers in Indiana’s Class of 2025.
This talented guard already started to make a name for himself as a sophomore at Pike. Howard averaged 7.3 points and 3.3 assists per game while playing behind or alongside a very talented senior. He will get the chance to continue expanding his game while already possessing a solid shooting stroke and good playmaking ability. Should have a good spring with Progeny playing on the NY2LA Circuit.
Jewell had his coming out party in the final game of the season scoring 22 points for the Panthers in their sectional loss. He is a fluid athlete, a good jump shooter, and can really get going from beyond the three-point arc as well. The 6’0″ guard averaged 7.3 points per game as a sophomore while knocking in 40% of his three-point attempts.
King is near the top of a list players that could play their way into some scholarship opportunities this summer. The 6’3″ wing is a good outside shooter, rebounds his position at a high level, and is athletic enough to create for himself against closeouts or in the open floor. Definitely one to watch while playing up at the 17u level for George Hill All Indy.
Anytime you see a 6’7″ wing with high level shooting ability it is going to capture your attention. Koehler, a sweet shooting left-hander, had a solid sophomore campaign for Cathedral and should really break out playing with Indy Heat Red this spring. He has the potential to blossom into a Top 10-15 prospect in the very talented class.
Highlights
Fresh off of averaging 9.5 points and a team-leading 6.9 rebounds for the Class 3A state champions, Raasch will hit the grassroots circuit with plenty of buzz. The 6’8″ forward already holds offers from Crossroads League powerhouses Huntington and Grace with plenty more yet to come. Raasch has a ton of upside.
One of the more talented pure scorers in the class, Rivera averaged 10.0 points per game while shooting 44% from beyond the arc as a sophomore. This spring he will take his talents to Kyle Guy Elite and look to continue capturing the attention of college programs. He can flat out shoot the basketball.
Snively should attract some scholarship offers over the spring and summer months. The 6’4″ guard has excellent size in the backcourt and can really shoot it from three-point range. He was Zionsville’s third leading scorer at 8.8 points per game this season. A potential Division I prospect in the making.
One of the better pure shooters in Indiana’s Class of 2025, Wright is coming off of making 51 three-pointers at a 40.5% clip while averaging 16.3 points per game as a sophomore at Sheridan. It’ll be fun getting to watch him go up against some higher level competition this spring and seeing how he responds. Hard worker with big time shooting ability.
