Rosemount has had some high level guard play over the past few years, and Kavari has the potential to be one of the next high level producers to come through that program. He’s incredibly shifty with the ball in his hands, and was finding success creating a bunch of separation on the perimeter. Used that separation to get off three point shots that he was hitting at a solid rate while showcasing a quick shot release.
Isa was probably one of the best players competing at the JV level this past winter. After playing varsity at St. Thomas Academy as a freshman, he transferred to Minnetonka where he exceled on the JV team this year. On Sunday he showcased an advanced feel for the game and excellent change of speed. Crafty shot creator with a smooth release from three who can also hesitate and then blow by his man to get to the rim. Did a nice job of utilizing head fakes to then attack bad closeouts, leaving the defender in his dust. Used floaters to get off good looks over size when attacking the basket, but also has the touch to extend and finish off the glass when he gets a clean path to the rim. Isa always had his eyes scanning the floor while he attacked, allowing him to locate open shooters with kickout passes as defenders collapsed on him.

DJ was one of the hardest working players I saw throughout the day. He’s super quick and was all hustle on the defensive end of the floor. If there was a loose ball or a missed shot coming off the rim, chances are DJ was going to be fighting for possession and often coming away with the ball. He has quick hands to move his feet and then poke the ball free for steals when defending on the ball. Offensively he’s a crafty finisher around the rim and even took another guard into the post and backed him down into deep position before finishing over the top. Hit a couple of threes to add to his scoring total.

Kyree Nelson
Kyree Nelson
Kyree is one to keep an eye on out of CDH! At 6’3 he has a nice frame with some strength and well-rounded athleticism that already makes him an intriguing prospect. Nelson excelled at getting to the basket, whether it was attacking from the wing or flying up the floor in transition, and he had some impressive finishes with both hands. Showed his shooting range with a deep three but also showcased touch on some short jumpers over contesting defenders. Defensively he had no problem moving his feet with smaller guards, and had a blocked shot as he slid in from help-side position to make a play at the rim. Capped off the first half with a left-handed dunk in transition.
Malachi Hill
Malachi Hill
As an 8th grader Malachi averaged 5.2 ppg for the varsity team at South, including double-figure outings in their last two regular season games. He’s really slippery with the ball in his hands, able to weave in and out of traffic with ease due to his agility and tight handle. Really crafty with how he uses pass fakes and his footwork to get shot blockers on their heels before he goes up to finish. Really liked when he was able to push the ball in the open floor as he was making smart reads on when to dish it off or when to attack on his own.

Jaylan saw the occasional minutes for South’s varsity team as an 8th grader, and looks to be an intriguing prospect moving forward. He’s now listed at 6′ with a very long and lanky frame, and has the look of someone who still has some growing to do. Jaylan showcased a smooth release from three as he knocked down three shots from beyond the arc, and I also liked the fight he showed on the glass. Going up against older players he was competing for rebounds and that fight led to a pair of putback buckets at the rim.
Braden Schultz
Braden Schultz
Braden is a big and physical guard who was able to muscle his way to the rim for a handful of buckets. He just has the type of strength that other underclassmen weren’t able to match up with, so if he was able to get his shoulder in front of his man, he was likely going to get to the bucket and score. Showed soft touch to lay it off the glass in a number of ways, and even flashed his shooting range beyond the arc. Was one of the hardest working defenders I saw on the day and was fighting for rebounds against taller players throughout the game I saw.
