Minnesota 2A State Title Game Preview

For the Minnesota Boys State Title at 2A we're getting the #2 see Albany versus #4 Minnehaha Academy. Albany defeated DGF with a bit of ease, a 15-point 79-64 victory. While Minnehaha Academy who pulled an upset of #1 Holy Family and [player_tooltip player_id='962212' first='Boden' last='Kapke'], had a real back and forth game, Minnehaha Academy needed overtime to pull off the win.   For Albany everything starts with six-foot-three-inch 2023 Senior [player_tooltip player_id='1358621' first='Tysen' last='Gerads']. Versus DGF Gerads poured in 31 points on 17 shots. Gerads is a natural slasher, and once he knifes into the defense it opens up passing lanes for shooters, specifically Ezekial Austin. The 2025 sophomore was big versus Pequot Lakes in the quarters making three 3's.   [player_tooltip player_id='1286547' first='Sam' last='Hondl'] has been Albany's do everything guy in the tournament. Versus DGF he scored 14 points, grabbed 9 rebounds, and passed out 11 assists. In the quarters vs Pequot Lakes he scored a game high 20, grabbed 12 boards and passed out 5 assists. The six-foot-six-inch sophomore has been phenomenal so far.   The Redhawks are led by a two-headed 2024 Junior tandem in [player_tooltip player_id='1284157' first='Jerome' last='Williams Jr'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1499627' first='Lorenzo' last='Levy'] with 2023 six-foot-nine-inch Senior [player_tooltip player_id='1221177' first='Rolyns' last='Aligbe'] filling the middle. Versus Holy Family the three shot 19/58 from the floor, Levy himself took 27 shots while scoring 27 points. Levy was 7/17 from beyond the arc.    The Redhawks collected 14 steals and forced 19 turnovers, while Jerome Williams tossed around 8 assists while dribbling in and out of the Fire's zone defense. Aligbe really has his hands full with two Division 1 big men in Kapke and [player_tooltip player_id='1492564' first='Collin' last='Mulholland'], who combined for 28 rebounds. Aligbe himself scored 15 points, gathered 14 rebounds, and had a game high 4 blocks.
