51 players are new, four re-classified to 2024 from 2023, three went to the 2025 class and 23 moved out of state or currently stopped playing basketball.
Of the 51 new players, 12 fell in the top-50 and 21 in the Top-100.
This obviously means some of the players who were ranked at the top last year saw their ranking drop.
Junior year is usually a separator year. You see the players who were relied on more heavily by their teams and the players who are developing more than others. The first two years, outside of a few of course, players are finding their identities of how they affect the outcome of games.
Our goal at PrepHoopsAZ is to try and recognize anyone who may play college basketball. We will keep searching for new players in preseason camps/events/leagues/Prep Hoops Circuit, Arizona Top-250 EXPO and during the AIA/CAA/Grind Session seasons.
1. 21 players have earned a D1 offer so far showing how talented and deep this junior class is led by Aiden Sherrell Aiden Sherrell 6'10" | C Prolific Prep | 2024 #39 Nation CA-N with 18 offers.
2. Two of the players committed with Jamari Phillips Jamari Phillips 6'3" | SG Dream City Christian | 2024 State #20 Nation AZ to Arizona and Jason Asemota Jason Asemota 6'8" | PF Hillcrest Prep | 2024 State #43 Nation AZ to Baylor.
3. Rankings are based on a lot of things. Production, size for position, college coaches, the eye test, ability to score and defend, instincts, IQ, how a player moves, speed, ball handling, shooting, fundamentals. length and possible upside. It is not the easiest thing to do since not all players play in the same leagues for AAU and HS. They can be in the CAA, Grind Session and the AIA obviously has different levels itself. Plus AAU teams may play on National Circuits (3SSB, UAA and EYBL) or play on local independent circuits (Pangos, Prep Hoops, WCE, The Stage and so on). So you put all that information together and create the rankings.
4. Of the 201 players we have 42 PG’s, 35 SG’s, 29 CG’s, 43 SF’s, 43 PF’s and only 9 C’s.
