HUDSONVILLE UNITY CHRISTIAN VS. GRAND RAPIDS SOUTH CHRISTIAN
Prediction: Grand Rapids South Christian
Emotions will ride high as South Christian tries to overcome an injury to star player Carson Vis Carson Vis 6'3" | PG Grand Rapids South Christian | 2025 State MI . I think this has a storybook feel with a trip to the Breslin Center in store. Unity Christian will have something to say in this though. The have an outside-inside game that’s thriving right now.
Players to watch:
How do you overcome losing your superstar to injury? Jake Vermaas Jake Vermaas 6’2″ | SG South Christian | 2024 State MI , that’s how. He’s become a stellar distributing lead guard, but we know he can score as well. Vermaas is more than capable of bearing some of the brunt when it comes to replacing points that Vis may have scored. Even more importantly, Vermaas is a fiery leader that won’t back down from the challenge and that his teammates can lean on.
Chapman is a rising young star and a prospect that’s earning a lot of eyes on his game. He can challenge shots and limit easy looks at the rim with his length. He’s probably underrated as an overall athlete with his footwork and the ease with which he moves in the lane. If Chapman can force tough shots and limit possessions, Unity Christian might prepping for the semifinals.
Highlights
CHELSEA VS. ROMULUS SUMMIT ACADEMY
Prediction: Chelsea
If you want the definition of a “pick-em” game, this might be it. Get a good seat to this one, because there will be elite athletes to watch for days. The winner of this game has a very real chance at a state title.
Players to watch:
Stephens has had an excellent season. He’s sort of been the player of many faces for Chelsea. He handles the ball and sets the offense quite often, but he can also shoot and score like a skilled 2 guard. Stephens can drive the lane like an athletic wing, but can also use his strength to battle on the glass. He’ll play a big part in whether Chelsea moves on to the semifinals.
Scott has been incredibly tough for opponents to deal with this year. He’s so fast and has that next level blow by ability. He’s an excellent ball handler that can put it on the floor quickly and have defenders grasping in no time. Scott’s game has taken off with his improvement as a passer and floor general. If he gets his team in a rhythm, Summit Academy will be playing in the Breslin Center.
