A Columbus City League Star, Thompson is one of the most productive players in the conference. With his strong frame at 6’4, he’s able to bully defenders in the paint. Also capable of stepping outside and knocking down a spot-up 3-pointer, Thompson can hit you with an inside-outside scoring combo that’s tough to stop. Look for Thompson to be one of the top players in the city league once again next season.
A unique forward, Angstmann can knock down outside shots at a high level. I was also impressed with how Angstmann moved his feet on switches to smaller but quicker guards. Hoping to see some growth in production as a senior but the skills are there for Angstmann to make a major leap as a senior alongside Jace Turner for St Mary’s Memorial.
Pike made the move to Anthony Wayne and has been one of their most productive players this season. With multiple high scoring games, Pike is showing what he can do in a bigger role at the varsity level. Also Pike grew an inch since when I watched him in the summer. With Pike’s production, shooting ability and feel for the game on the offensive end, I expect him to be coveted by small college programs.
Preble Shawnee is having a big season and while Mason Shrout Mason Shrout 6’4″ | SF Preble Shawnee | 2024 State OH is their superstar, Hawley has taken some significant steps this season. Currently leading his conference at 2.7 blocks per game, Hawley is a match-up nightmare for small schools without anybody his size in the paint. Efficient at scoring at the rim, Hawley is shooting 64.7% from the field this season. Look for Hawley to be highly pursued by small colleges due to his size, rim protection and athleticism.
One of the most productive players in Pickaway County, Miller always finds ways to produce whenever I watch him. Not going to stand out in warm-ups, Miller wins off his motor and ability to finish in the paint. I like how Miller attacks the rim with efficient dribbles and also gets a few buckets each game by simply going harder than his opposition. Those traits will allow some small college to give Miller a shot to play at the next level.
