The Greater Metro Conference has traditionally been one of the most competitive groupings in the entire state, over the last few years. Several of the players that have graduated are at the next level and producing for their respective teams. This year the conference is in a tight race as ever to determine who will come out on top. Below is a preview of tonight's games that could determining who could raise the banner at the end of February. As current standings go, four teams have a strong chance to be called conference champs. Brook Central needs to win out, Marquette and Tosa West need to win out and have a bit of help. Sussex Hamilton, of course needs to win out but also might need an upset or two.

Greater Metro Standings

Brookfield Central 9-2

Marquette 9-2

Wauwatosa West 9-3

Sussex Hamilton 9-3

Wauwatosa West vs Brookfield Central

Tosa West travels to Central in a game that has huge sway in the overall conference championship. Tosa is on a seven-game win streak within the conference while Central has dropped two; one within conference & a tough lost that saw them miss five free throws to win in final seconds, outside of conference.

In game storylines: In the last game between the two teams, after trailing by roughly ten at halftime, Central powered to a five-point win behind [player_tooltip player_id='1142131' first='Jack' last='Daugherty']'s 40+ point performance. During this same game [player_tooltip player_id='1463408' first='Charlie' last='Geske'] scored 23 points as the second option, maybe 10 more points above his season average. Since this game Tosa has gone 9-2, where [player_tooltip player_id='1240335' first='Kai' last='Rogers'] has found his grove, being productive across the stat line. [player_tooltip player_id='1089681' first='Cole' last='Hansen'] averaging 19+ ppg, with a few double doubles, and also leading his team in scoring & assist. Then there is [player_tooltip player_id='1240337' first='Jake' last='Hansen'], a solid 3-point threat, who has come into his own this season. Finally, as of late there is upstart junior [player_tooltip player_id='2291381' first='Tyler' last='Boesel'], who has been inserted into the starting line-up, and just posted his career high of 19 points in a win versus Sussex.

Brookfield Central remaining games: Marquette, Tosa East, Germantown, Sussex Hamilton.

Tosa West remaining games: West Allis Hale, Menomonee Falls, Brookfield East.

Marquette University H.S. vs Sussex Hamilton

MUHS has been a strong team all season and appear to be in 2nd place in the conference as of today. [player_tooltip player_id='1203205' first='Nolan' last='Minessale'] has produced great numbers while others have stepped up at different times. They just beat a tough Germantown team by 6, but I am hearing that their second leading scorer, Ryan Meehan, has gone down with an ankle injury. Only time will tell how serious. MUHS is a team that plays very well together and appear to be a close-knit team. Then there is Sussex who is a complete team, with a very good, but streaky shooter in [player_tooltip player_id='953956' first='Luther' last='Smith']. He just seems to produce numbers and as he goes so goes Hamilton. Additionally, Hamilton can throw waves of strong athletes at their opponent, keeping everyone fresh and strong. Next, [player_tooltip player_id='1142132' first='Aidan' last='Konop'], a past strong performer, who has only played in three games, has been back in the last couple of contests, he has been putting up solid numbers.

Marquette remaining games: Brookfield Central, West Allis Hale, Menomonee Falls, Brookfield East

Sussex Hamilton remaining games: Wauwatosa East, Germantown, Brookfield Central
