Second Team All-League
Nico Owens – PF/SF – 6’4” – 2024 Mission Viejo
Easily would be my vote for the Defensive Player of the Year with all facets of his game. His ability to guard one through five on any given night is what makes him such a great leader and teammate. Pairing that with a consistent three-point shot and constantly getting to the rim and finishing, he is a solid compliment to any roster across any level. His stats don’t scream out at first, but as a senior next season, he will be nothing short of dominant.
Ryan McElroy – SF – 6’5” – 2023 Aliso Niguel
His body type is about as perfect as you can ask for in a basketball player. His length and build allow him to play all five positions and guard them as well. My favorite thing about his game is that he does whatever is missing on your roster. If it’s scoring he can do that. If it’s defending the opposing team’s best player, he will do that. The lefty slasher does it all, but most impressive is his touch around the rim. If you have the pleasure of watching him play you will see a heavy dose of post-ups and finishing around the rim.
Alexander Frost – C – 6’7” – 2024 Mission Viejo
He is a quality big man that just does his job. An excellent rebounder on both ends and an elite defender of the paint. He has a soft touch around the rim and creates matchup problems night after night. There is no one in the league that was able to guard him straight up without double-teaming and at the end of the day you can’t teach size. But there is a lot of skill combined with that, and that makes him very entertaining to watch as he continues to develop for his final high school season.
Christian Jimenez – PG – 6’1” – 2025 El Toro
The potential of this young player is incredible. With two more full seasons to grow on the court and even physically, the sky really is the limit. He brings a calmness to the floor that slows the game down for not only himself but for his teammates as well. As a finisher and playmaker, he lets his game do the talking and I love the way he plays at such a young age. He serves mostly as a true point guard while setting up his guys, but the way he is able to score off the dribble and still play off-ball as well makes him so much more useful on any roster.
Jay Fromm – SG – 6’2” – 2023 Aliso Niguel
On a very team-style roster, there has to be at least one guy that can go out and get you a bucket. Time and time again I watched this kid do that for the Wolverines. He can score with the best of them and has every right to do that at the next level in the fall. There are a lot of things that you can teach on a basketball court, but what he is able to do as a scorer you can’t teach. I’m looking forward to seeing how he can grow into a complete player on both ends of the court.
