The wildest region in all of Georgia resides in Class A D-I. Region 6 has been a free-for-all. Mt. Vernon captured the one-seed. The Mustangs are the most impressive team off the bus and have the most talent. 6-foot-6 [player_tooltip player_id='1125607' first='Xavier' last='Shegog'] (15 ppg, 9.5 rpg) is a game-changer with his activity in the paint while 6-foot-9 [player_tooltip player_id='1223256' first='Dennis' last='Scott III'] (13.1 ppg, 9.4 rpg) is a complete mismatch with his ability to shoot over defenders from three and 6-foot-8 [player_tooltip player_id='806640' first='Keith' last='Williams'] (10.5 ppg, 9.3 rpg) is an unmovable load on the low block. [player_tooltip player_id='1595929' first='AJ' last='Patterson'] (7.7 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 6.5 apg, 2.6 spg) is a stat sheet stuffing playmaker while [player_tooltip player_id='820315' first='Kenny' last='Southall'] and Sha'Yah Goba are superior athletes that focus on defense. [player_tooltip player_id='1790743' first='Pace' last='Bottoms'] off the bench gives the Mustangs a three-point specialist. Staying healthy is paramount for Mt. Vernon as they have had players shuffled in and out of the lineup throughout the year. They beat Mt. Bethel 61-46 on the road last week to clinch the one-seed. The Eagles have dealt with injuries as well but have a strong core in the backcourt with [player_tooltip player_id='1444760' first='Jackson' last='Bell'], Will Kuimjian and [player_tooltip player_id='806729' first='James' last='White']. [player_tooltip player_id='1623386' first='Cole' last='Buker'] can score inside and out while 6-foot-9 [player_tooltip player_id='1594184' first='Mo' last='Diao'] elevates Mt. Bethel's ceiling with his elite defensive prowess and growing versatility on offense. Mt. Pisgah is led by All-State sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1383019' first='Micah' last='Tucker']. [player_tooltip player_id='1790687' first='Grant' last='Randall'] has emerged as an X-Factor, while Max Tucker has supplied solid play at forward. St. Francis is an interesting four-seed at just 11-13 but beat King's Ridge to take home court advantage heading into their win-or-go-home rematch with the Tigers on Tuesday. [player_tooltip player_id='1501752' first='Reynolds' last='Escher'] (16.9 ppg, 7 rpg, 3.9 apg, 2.6 spg) has been the catalyst all season but Cameron Robinson came up huge vs. King's Ridge with 16 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 5 steals. The Tigers, the Preseason No. 1 ranked team in Class A-D-I, still have a chance to make it back to Macon if they can get past St. Francis. [player_tooltip player_id='820305' first='Isaac' last='Martin'], [player_tooltip player_id='1655579' first='Jaydon' last='Cole'], [player_tooltip player_id='820316' first='Zak' last='Thomas'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1426101' first='Jack' last='Thomas'] are extremely efficient three-point shooters. [player_tooltip player_id='1201542' first='Micah' last='Hoover'] is a workhorse in the paint and [player_tooltip player_id='1201627' first='William' last='Jobe'] is a wildcard at 6-foot-10, capable of taking over a game at any given moment. Six-seed Paideia is the most mercurial team in the state, capable of winning a state title or not even clinching a playoff berth. They will have to beat Mt. Pisgah just to make state, but the Pythons have serious bite, scoring wins over the top three seeds in the region throughout the season. [player_tooltip player_id='1464205' first='Kenan' last='Orlovic'] can score from the perimeter or on the block, a hybrid-wing that stands 6-foot-7. Paideia has a young backcourt that is extremely talented headlined by [player_tooltip player_id='1696232' first='CJ' last='Harper'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1696231' first='David' last='Smith']. Galloway must win two games to reach state, beat Whitefield Academy and then try to upset Mt. Bethel, but freshman [player_tooltip player_id='1543507' first='Aiden' last='Aponte'] has shown glimpses of being special, averaging 14.8 points per game, tied with Amir Arrington for the team-lead.
