The Port City classic championship game was excited from beginning to the end. This was one of those game that you couldn’t even look away or you would possible miss a great play offensively or defensively. Both teams played with passion and also played extremely hard throughout the entire game. The game ended with a last second shot and just barely missed by Catoosa that gave Bishop Kelley the win. The following are players that stood out and made a major impact during the game.
Chris Brown
Chris Brown
Brown is a leave it all on the floor type of guy. He is at his best when he is shooting threes or putting his head down getting to the basket. On the defensive side of the ball he is all over the place and consistently creating chaos for the opposing team. Brown has a big opportunity to help a smaller college in a big way.
Seth Taylor
Seth Taylor
Taylor is a kid that is a floor general. He always knows when to pass and when to shot to pass. He is very lethal from the three point line. In the championship game he lead his team by getting buckets when they needed them, getting his teammates involved when he was getting double teamed and making sure his teammates understood where to be on both offense and defense. He ended the Catoosa tournament with the MVP trophy and lead his team to the win all in the same weekend.
Jack Hawkins
Jack Hawkins
Hawkins is a kid that is very crafty when getting to the cup and finishing around the rim. Throughout the championship game it was a few times I thought he was about to get a charge taken on him and he found a way to avoid contact a maneuver to the basket for two points. He was able to help push bishop Kelley to the victory on the offensive end while taking on the challenger of guarding the best player on the other team defensively. At 6’3” I think he can definitely add value within a college program.
