Ta’Korrie Faison Ta’Korrie Faison 6’7″ | PF Goldsboro | 2023 State NC has been a dominating force among 2A players so far this year, clocking in as the second leading scorer and the leading rebounder in the East division. His line of 25.8 PPG and 12.6 RPG is one that causes opponents to be scared, and for good reason. He’s a burly wing that can play down low as well as score off the bounce. He’s got a great face up game that helps him dominate post defenders as well. He’s had a big time senior season performance wise, and now that he is an officially an academic qualifier, it’s only a matter of time before he announces his commitment to a D1 program.

Makel Smith Makel Smith 6’1″ | CG Morehead | 2024 State NC has been putting up absurd numbers up north this year at Morehead HS, averaging 37.5 PPG. He’s an incredibly dynamic guard who scores at every spot on the floor and takes over games. He’s a volume guy who is shooting to get hot, and shooting to stay hot. Averaging over 5 threes a game shows he’s not one to leave open, but you have to balance that with letting him get inside, where he converts at over 50% from the field and 80% from the stripe. He’s a multidimensional problem, and we’ll be hearing much more about him as he leads his 11-1 Morehead team towards the playoffs.

Kendre Harrison Kendre Harrison 6’8″ | C Reidsville | 2026 State NC is a kid that just oozes upside. He’s averaging 22 PPG and 13 RPG, filling up the stat sheet and being incredibly effective while he’s at it. He’s got grown man strength and uses it well, causing him to score at a 69% clip around the rim. He’s learning to expand his range and toolset on the offensive end, which poses serious issues for opponents in future years. His length and strength causes him defensively to be a wall, not letting guys score over or through him. He plays much better than an average freshman in terms of making sure he does not foul constantly as well. As long as he sticks to basketball (he’s an elite tight end too) we’re going to be hearing much more of Harrison in the future.
Marcel Freeman Marcel Freeman 6’0″ | PG North Johnston | 2025 State NC has been having an outstanding season scoring the ball and leading his team to an 11-1 start. He’s a top scorer in NC with 27.1 PPG and does it multiple ways. He’s effective primarily as a slasher, getting downhill and out in transition to attack the basket and get layups and other close shots. He’s also effective as a defender both on and off the ball, jumping passing lanes and picking pockets in order to get run out baskets which get his team going. This is evidenced by his 4.5 steals per game so far. He’s a tough competitor that’s improving night in and night out, and as his jumper continues to develop, he’ll gain more attention on recruiting boards going forward.

Jarin Stevenson Jarin Stevenson 6’8″ | SF Seaforth | 2024 #14 Nation NC has been a player who’s stock has been rising rapidly over the course of the year, and his high school performances have been impressive. He does it all offensively, which is even more impressive given his 6’8-6’10 frame. He’s shooting over 40% from three and averaging 21 points per game, as well as pulling down 11 RPG, 3 block per game and 3 assists per game. He’s a high IQ guy too, as his smarts and skills look so smooth for the high school floor. He’s now getting national recognition which is definitely what he deserves, and it will be intriguing to see how far he can go. He’s got the physical tools and the basketball skills to be a big time player.
