Continue ReadingSheets is one of the most skilled players in the state. While he saw significant minutes as a freshmen, he’s taken his game to another level in his sophomore season. He can score the basketball from a variety of levels and has shown a willingness to get teammates involved. His best game may have been his 31 and 10 rebound performance against Westview.
Abdalla came on toward the end of his freshmen season, and now has carried over the momentum. A scorers scorer, the combo guard has been as consistent as they come, scoring in double figures in every game this season. He’s improved other aspects of his game, including his rebounding, as he’s one of the better guard rebounders in the state. His best game was a 21 point 11 rebound effort against Bishop O’dowd.
Highlights
Romero is the perfect embodiment of the Aggies. A versitle skilled offensive player, Romero has been effective scoring, and distributing. He’s the second leading scorer on a team that’s 14-1, and looking to make noise in 5A. Perhaps the best example of his versatility was his 24 point, 4 rebound, 5 assist, 2 steal performance against Rancho to start the season.
Tatum has put together a strong season for a 5A contender. He’s doing it all around the rim, scoring in transition, and when he gets direct post up opportunities. His in the paint production makes his 19ppg average even more impressive considering he’s done it without shooting threes.
Rhymes has been playing some of his best basketball over the last few games. The athletic wing, has good physical tools and has now figured out how to use them. He played well during the Christmas tournament circuit, including good games at the Tarkanian Classic, and Les Schwab, showing that he can hold his own against top competition.
Highlights
Reid is having an under the radar breakout season, as his best skills may go unnoticed. He’s been a force on the defensive end, protecting the rim and securing the backboards for the Tigers this season. His best performance was perhaps his 17 point 8 rebound game against AIM College Prep.
JPA is a clear stockriser putting together a strong senior season. He’s shown the ability to finish through contact around the rim, and has been effective in transition. His best game may be his 25 point 8 rebound performance against Basic.
The sophmore sharpshooter has been magnificent this season. He’s added more versatility to his offensive game, and it’s led to an increase in the scoring average. Abbitan is attacking the rim more and his aggression is paying off, allowing him to take advantange of his shooting prowless. The guard is knocking down 89% of his free throws, en route to averaging over 19 per game. His best performance was his 32 point 8 rebound, 5 assist game against Silverado.
Highlights
Anderson is a potential prospect who is on the rise. The class of 2024 foward has emerged as a big time player for DR and one of the top players in the North. He’s been able to score off the offensive glass, as well as faceup dribble drives. His best game may have been his last performance, putting up 30 and 12 against Reed.
