Liam Murray
Liam Murray
A true game-changer in the Panthers win over IMG, Murray was an interior force through all four quarters. Offensively, the senior comes with a strong post-up game that’s tough to stop with his 6-5 frame, scoring at will from inside the paint all game, finishing with a soft touch around the basket. When he’s not right there picking up a miss, be rest assured that Murray is hustling after it to scoop up the loose ball. Defensively, there simply wasn’t anything the Ascenders could do with his long arms constantly stretched out to reject shots and make things difficult inside.
Daniel Bubil
Daniel Bubil
One of the floor generals of the Ascenders offense, Bublil is extremely composed with the ball in his hands, along with a great feel for the game. On top of his cool demeanor, the guard plays with a balanced offensive game, sharing the rock while never shying away from contact on his way to the basket, plus his anice lefty jumper that he’s not afraid to let fly off the catch and shoot. Defensively, Bubil is very active, always staying wide while moving his feet quickly from side to side to make it tough for his match-up to blow by.
Jonathan Tapia
Jonathan Tapia
Tapia is the type of player every coach loves to have on their team. A team-first guy, the combo guard is as aggressive defensively as they come without fouling, keeping his hands constantly active, tipping passes and being in the middle of disruption. Offensively, the basketball IQ is on full display, always making the right play for his team while taking care of the basketball. Finishing with 10 points in Cape’s win over Parrish Community, Tapia can score all over the court, but his security of the basketball late is what was most impressive to me in the close game.
Joe Silva
Joe Silva
After showing off his two-way ability on Friday, Silva continued to make his presence felt on both ends through the duration of the invitational. Possessing a smooth jumper off the catch-and-shoot, Silva’s high release point is difficult to contest for defenders, and the high arc appears to go in almost every single time. Silva does not need the ball in his hands to make his impact known, always doing the little things to help the Seahawks win, whether that be setting off-ball screens, chasing after loose balls, or getting scrappy down-low, he can do it all.
Shuga Tsurumi
Shuga Tsurumi
A lightning quick point guard, Tsurumi needs eyes on him at all times, with or without the ball in his hands. As the floor general of this IMG squad, he possesses an advanced basketball IQ that can slice up any defense, mixed with an ability to change directions in a hurry. And while the unselfish play is constantly on display, he can create his own offense when needed, with a quick first step and inside out game, there’s no telling Tsurumi’s next move.
