Traveling to Queens were the Stepinac Crusaders boasting Johnuel Boogie Fland and Danny Carbuccia Danny Carbuccia 6'1" | PG Stepinac | 2025 State #59 Nation NY . Both players are highly regarded high D1 players, with many offers. Unfortunately you know what they say about best laid plans. This match up did not develop. Danny Carbuccia Danny Carbuccia 6'1" | PG Stepinac | 2025 State #59 Nation NY of Stepinac missed the game due to injury. The Crusaders were also without the inside outside presence of Ben Lyttle. But in true CHSAA fashion the game was intent and physical and showed off a lot of major talent. The Terriers of St Francis Prep won the game. Here are the players who left it all out on the floor and left us wanting to see a rematch.
17 points 3 rebounds 3 assists. Our #1 player in our NY state rankings for the class of 24 didn’t disappoint. Without his running mate he had to do a little bit more. Boogie has shown incredible deep range and the ability to get by his defender and finish against bigger players. An outstanding shooter. He possesses a terrific handle which enables him to get off his own shot. A tremendous talent in all aspects of the game. The Terriers were guarding him even more intently with the injuries even then he is accustomed to, but he still managed to stay in control and poised to keep this game close.
17 points 2 steals and 2 blocks. Hassan was getting minutes for Stepinac before the injury to their leader Ben Lyttle. With the injury he was asked to step up big, and he did. (Pictured )21 points 11 rebounds 4 assists. The Marist commit and #7 on our class of 2023 state rankings was his usual superb self. If you’ve been checking my reports you know how much I like this young man’s game. An outstanding three point shooter from the first time I saw him to now a complete guard. He can use his handle and penetrate the defense. Get by his defender off the bounce. He is a guard who can post up other guards or even players just a little bit bigger. An outstanding rebounder from the guard position, who can lead the break, set up a teammate off of it or finish in transition himself.
